Election 2012

Biden's "Chains" Comment Still Drawing Excuses

David Axelrod took his turn to throw himself on a sword for the vice president

Senior Obama adviser David Axelrod on Thursday dubbed Mitt Romney's vice-presidential pick an "ideologue" who "grew up in the think tanks of Washington" — and also said he supports his party's No. 2 in the wake of Vice President Joe Biden's controversial "chains" comment.

Axelrod — who told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that he thinks Paul Ryan is "an affable guy, he's a genial guy, he's a good person" — said Romney's selection has finally clarified the positions of the Republican ticket and made the election a stark contrast for voters in November.
