Basque Hunger Strike Goes International

French Basque prisoners have begun a protest over the treatment of a prisoner in Spain.

PARIS, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Basque separatists in 15 French prisons are on a hunger strike in support of a Spanish inmate suffering from cancer, French authorities said.

Iosu Uribetxebarria, a member of the Basque separatist group ETA, was convicted of kidnapping a prison official in Spain more than a decade ago, Radio France Internationale reported Wednesday
