Spain Borrowed a Record $463 Billion in July From ECB

The amount is 11 percent higher than borrowing in June.

MADRID — Spain's central bank says the country's banks borrowed a record €375.5 billion ($463 billion) from the European Central Bank during July.

That was 11 percent higher than June's level and is another sign of the difficulties afflicting the sector as the recession-struck country weighs up whether to request a sovereign bailout.
