Temporary residency applications are expected to surge
The federal government is prepared for a flood of requests from young undocumented immigrants who can begin applying on Wednesday to stay and work in the U.S. temporarily under President Barack Obama's sweeping new immigration policy, Department of Homeland Security officials said this morning.
But it could take several months for applicants to find out if they have been approved, the officials said.
