Nancy Pelosi and John Boehner React to the Supreme Court's Health Care Ruling
While she claps, he rages:
On the one hand, the Supreme Court largely upheld President Obama's signature legislative achievement, a health care law that Rep. Nancy Pelosi was instrumental in passing during her time as Speaker of the House. On the other hand, the court upheld the law's individual mandate under the taxing power, which means that Rep. Boehner and his fellow Republicans will get to run against President Obama and the rest of the Democrats as having passed an unpopular law that breaks the president's explicit promise not to raise taxes on the middle class.

Does she still think it wasn't a serious challenge?
Does she still think?
What do you mean by "still"?
Does she ever think?
there?
You know, looking at this politically, it might not be as bad as it seems for just that reason. Before, totalitarian hags like Pelosi could just say, "Do it, fucker, it's commerce." Now, they can't...they have to couple their mandates with tax increases, absolute poison politically.
Congress is unlikely to pass a law testing the commerce clause in this way anytime in the foreseeable future.
And the people are not going to start thinking there's a new tax out there that wasn't there before--and if they do, they'll blame the Supreme Court, if this straw-grasping rightwing meme is to be believed.
But we can always challenge laws previously held up on the CC.
And the people are not going to start thinking there's a new tax out there that wasn't there before--and if they do, they'll blame the Supreme Court
The people are stupid Tony but they aren't total retards like you are.
+1
Tony has Nancy's cock in his mouth. It's a wonder he can type like that.
You're delusional if you think Congress will be able to do this without taking the hit for raising taxes. They **might** get away with it here, pleading ignorance, but not in the future.
I'm not thrilled with this decision, but this poison pill Roberts put in is making me see a nice, fat silver lining.
and if they do, they'll blame the Supreme Court, if this straw-grasping rightwing meme is to be believed.
So you are saying that supreme court decisions do not swing Presidential elections?
Roe V Wade has given the Democrats a good 5% bump among women voters for the past 30 years...
Me thinks you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. In terms of presidential election politics this is a political loss for Obama.
How big or small is yet to be seen.
Perhaps, but a loss would have been a bigger loss.
"Obama tried to ram an UNCONSTITUTIONAL law down our throats!!!"
"Obama tried to ram an UNCONSTITUTIONAL law down our throats!!!"
I am pretty sure the tea party wing of the republican party is saying that today more then ever before...and yet now the only way to fix it is by jumping aboard the Romney bus, whom, if the ruling had went the other way, would not have gotten on.
This part is 20/20 hind sight but looking at it now I would have written off the tea party in coming elections...but now I am not so sure. If anything they are more energized then ever...and now unlike before they are in lock step with the rest of the party.
Note: Tea party being in lock step is good for republicans...but they came to the mountain not he other way around...which is bad for libertarians who wanted the tea party to move the republicans.
The tea party is less popular than muslims. You don't win a presidential election with just the tea party. They turn off the swing voters you do need to win.
Jezebel's effort: What Does the Supreme Court Ruling on Obamacare Mean for Your Vagina?.
Relink, try again.
Hear!
It means that your vagina is my business now, sluts.
it means i'll get taxed if i don't use it?
It means we can tax them for getting that abortion. We can tax them for getting that birth control. When I'm paying to take care of your vagina, I get a say in it.
Yeah just wait until President Palin has authority over the vaginas...or something..
Vagina Czar?
Primae noctis! We're not saying that all newly married women must have sexual relations with their nearest male representative on their wedding night, only that we will tax those who don't and give a deduction to those who do.
Listen, if you don't want to sleep with me, that's fine. I'll just wait here until you give me that $15000 check written to the IRS.
You have to have pity on the women in Henry Waxman's district...
It means that your vagina is my business now, sluts.
Boom, argument of the day.
If I'm going to have to pay for it, I should get a say in how it's used.
And if they don't want to use it that way, that's fine. They are free to choose to pay a tax instead.
Or surrender all their healthcare benefits. Also, no buying BC without government approved insurance.
It means that your vagina is my business now, sluts.
In order to reduce health care costs slutty women need to fuck less and prudes need to fuck more.
The law itself is more retarded than an IVF baby born to a 50 yr-old workaholic white woman who takes too much Xanex.
Your vaginas are belong to us?
Your vagina will have access to everything that the Department of Health and Human Services classifies as "preventative care" ? for free.
Because affordable care is free! It's FREE! Preventative care is free! Having a doctor stare up your vagina 24/7 is free! It costs nothing! Who knew?
Seriously, twentysomethings need better lobbying in Washington. They're ability to find employment took a hit with today's ruling.
It is generation retard. And everyone likes to pick on the retarded kid no matter what they say.
I don't buy the collective guilt tripping stuff the left and noninterventionists peddle. I'm still sorry for my generation. I mean really sorry. I tried. I'm still trying. I'm so sorry.
I feel terrible for the current generation. And I know a lot of them are not generation retard. Hell they are the ones who mostly have fought the war. But I also see the millions of idiot lefty dupes and can't help but feel a bit of schadenfreude.
There seems to be a 'retard core' in my generation that isn't so much bigger as in previous generation but LOUDER and more able to appear/be energetic because of social media. I am not shy about politely shitting on my friend's environmentalist bullshit in Facebook. I had my qualms about Breitbart, but he got the big idea. It's time to stop being shy. Down with the beta-right.
If you say "beta" again I am going to dispatch Yaron Brook to nuke you from orbit.
Beta.
Why the beta hating? Why would YB hate it? What am I missing?
There seems to be a 'retard core' in my generation that isn't so much bigger as in previous generation but LOUDER and more able to appear/be energetic because of social media
Sorry to break it to you, dude. That retard core exists in every generation. Who do you think is running the damned country now? It's the "retard core" that goes into government. They thrive there.
Er I implied that in my post.
Er I implied that in my post.
You're right, you did. I missed it through my salty ham tears. Which I'm not crying because I'm too dignified.
I don't know about retards. I think 20 somethings are just not really anti-authoritarian. It isn't their fault that the authority at this particular time are imbeciles.
No one in my generation voted yes on PPACA.
+1 to john
No, it's free...If by "free" you mean, "on the backs of young people trying to enter employment."
Seriously, twentysomethings deserve to have better lobbyists.
twenty somethings are covered by their parents insurance. Remember, Obamacare was upheld today.
That is great until their parents no longer have insurance or they turn 27. Father time is undefeated.
They will bump 27 up to 30, you can bet on it.
"But you can't retire, dad! How will I get insurance?!"

Here is the positive "Roberts is a small government genius playing the long game" take.
Fuuuuuck you.
When we passed Prohibition, someone thought it kind of... important to, you know, amend the constitution before imposing that kind of mandate on the country.
"Mainstream constitutional scholars" my ass.
Uhh, people who can read words and understand their meaning thought that Congress mandating that every man, woman and child alive in the country being forced by penalty of law to purchase a product from a private company was a little outside the mainstream.
The lawyers in the comments section of the article don't seem to be buying the idea that Roberts rolled the Commerce Clause back.
And with all due respect, fuck you John, for making me click on that link.
Now I need a rape shower.
I didn't make you do anything. And i didn't endorse the view. It was only offered for informative purposes.
True. He was free to pay a tax instead of clicking.
+100
I know you didn't endorse the view. When I see a link, I can't help myself!
John abuses the trust we give him.
Here's a link. Click it.
You are not john...we give you no trust.
From John we expect (trust) conservative links from National Review, Daily Caller, Breigtbart, etc...and any left wing links to have some sort of disclaimer. For example he might say "check out the crazy shit Jezabel is posting."
You on the other hand could be linking to men having sex with horses.
That wasn't a horse, that was Sarah Jessica Parker.
I think there's something to this. This decision effectively sealed off the avenue to the brass ring the Left was looking for, namely the power to simply order people to buy something.
The ruling also gave the Left an end-around, but there will be a bitch of a political price for doing so.
This decision effectively sealed off the avenue to the brass ring the Left was looking for, namely the power to simply order people to buy something.
I don't see it that way. It gave them TWO avenues to simply order people to buy something. First try the commerce clause. If fail, then try Tax route.
And I don't see the political price here.
It may be true. It just makes Roberts too clever by so many many halves. And still a cunt.
Completely. He was a total fool. And if he is an especially big fool if he thinks this will in any way keep the left from destroying the legitimacy of the court every time it does something it doesn't like.
Boehner looks like Pelosi just stole his binky. Temper tantrum in 3... 2... 1...
As for Pelosi? Fuck her in dried up wrinkly old ass with a giant dildo. It's all good, she'll get "free" health care to fix her perforated colon.
Didn't Congress exempt themselves from PPACA?
John Boehner: Great face? Or greatest face?
OT, but I'm sick of hearing about the health care travesty: I've been watching for 3 days, and HuffPo, the go-to website for all the caring, compassionate Dems on the internet who care soooo deeply about other people, has yet to mention the CO wildfires on its front page. They do have 18 stories up right now dedicated to the healthcare decision, though. And one about Miley Cirus' sexy dress from some awards show or something. Stay classy, Arianna, you filthy, diseased cunt.
Dems on the internet who care soooo deeply about other people, has yet to mention the CO wildfires on its front page.
At least their vaginas get free healthcare!
The worst of the wildfires are hitting Colorado Springs, which is a fairly right-wing part of the state, so of course they're not going to mention it. Maybe if the Flagstaff fire in Boulder gets out of control and starts threatening the homes of fellow lib-tards they might muster up a small measure of concern, but not until then.
If Boulder or Aspen burned down it would be 24 seven news. A bunch of fundies and air force people in the Springs? Fuck them.
Actually there's a fire in High Park near Ft. Collins that's been burning for a lot longer, but the state government decided to let it burn. Of course it destroyed a lot of cabins, houses, property, etc.
But when Co. Springs caught fire, the state gov. jumped to because that's where they get a lot of political donations.
The national guard, fire fighters from all over the country are in Springs right now. They have AC-130s dropping water and fire retardant.
I'm only a few miles outside Boulder. Believe me, Co. Springs is getting loads of attention relative to more rural parts of Colorado.
I was speaking more of the media.
The fire in the Springs is in the middle of the city. It's a quarter of the size of the High Park fire and it may have burned more homes, of course it's going to get more media attention than the others. The Flagstaff fire, being just up the slope from the city of Boulder, is getting a huge amount of attention, too, despite being less than 300 acres and not damaging any structures so far. High Park is mostly contained, only likely to expand more into undeveloped national forest land, and still has, last I checked, over 1,000 firefighters working on it. As much as I want to, I really can't fault the state's direct response to the fires, but I find it strange that some media outlets are completely ignoring them even when Obama is scheduled to disrupt the firefighting efforts and traffic around the Springs to use the fire as a backdrop for a campaign appearance.
Believe me, Co. Springs is getting loads of attention relative to more rural parts of Colorado.
Key word: rural. They don't know yet how many homes have been burned by the Waldo Canyon fire or how many will be (last night they were saying at least 300), and it's true that in terms of total acreage the High Park fire is a lot bigger, but Waldo canyon may be more desctructive in terms of property and homes destroyed once it's done.
Plus a city burning is much more emotionally compelling than mostly empty land and the occasional house or cabin, which is why it's made more national news than High Park. Also, High Park is now something like 95% contained last I heard.
I don't think they just "let it burn" either. They've been fighting the High Park fire since it started.
Oh, and it's C-130s, not AC-130s. AC-130s are the ones with the big guns that are used for close air support. Not very useful for firefighting.
"it's C-130s, not AC-130s"
yeah, those.
Is that a real picture?
And does it remind anyone else of that episode of the Sopranos where Robert Loggia is buttering the bread all pissed off at the rest of the crew?
I just realized i've had a clenched jaw all day.
It's that free preventative healthcare kicking in.
you know what's funny. or would be if it wasn't so fucking cruel. dental is not part of thing for adults. we're going give/mandate coverage, but we don't have the docs to treat them, and will ignore the fact that they have rotting teeth. but Obama's compassionate.
This is the most unproductive day I've had in my more than a year of working a real job.
at least i'm health policy. i'm billing this shit.
The good news is that we'll finally find out what's in it.
I hope everyone likes surprises as much as she does.
Perfect photo to illustrate the absolute waste of time that is the republican party. A republican is a con artist who takes advantage of losers by claiming to fight for them, and then complains and whines about the refs when he throws the game. He then goes back to the losers to ask for more money and support so that he can keep fighting - only to lose and complain again. Rinse and repeat.
The republican party must be destroyed.
You're as boring as you are nonsensical. Go bore elsewhere.
Until you are calling for the total destruction of BOTH MOTHERFUCKING PARTIES, Sit down and shut the fuck up.
What the fuck squirrels? There wasn't even a strikethrough tag in that post.
Fuck you, that's why.
Ha, ha!
Watching republican suck ups squirm is some consolation.
(And just in case you sophomores don't get it, yes, the demothugs should be destroyed too. Sheesh.)
And just in case you sophomores don't get it, yes, the demothugs should be destroyed too. Sheesh.)
But not their ideas!
"The republican and democrat partyies must be destroyed."
All fixed.
Georgie Will: insane or brilliant or both?
http://fullcomment.nationalpos.....obamacare/
Conservatives won a substantial victory on Thursday. The physics of American politics ? actions provoking reactions ? continues to move the crucial debate, about the nature of the American regime, toward conservatism. Chief Justice John Roberts has served this cause.
MSNBC insane.
The real winner in tonight's vote: George W. Bush!
I can't remember Will being good at picking political horse races.
How is his track record?
And now the fucking Italians are rolling the Fatherland 2-nil. What a shitty day. Up next, the Celtics draft Rickey Davis, I mean Austin Rivers tonight.
I hope not. Get a big man.
Preferably one who has a working heart.
I can't figure out how Doc Rivers, a guy who was not the most talented but universally respected as a team player and now a very respected coach, could have a son who is such a selfish knucklehead that people are comparing him to Rickey Davis. Is mom a moron?
You're fucking joking me. Today is the most disappointing thing since Prometehus.
Two zero at half time. I thought the Germans had a real chance at winning the whole thing.
As an American of Italian descent, why all the hate for gli Azzuri?
My wife is of Italian descent. I am of German descent. There was a lot of household pride riding on this one. I am not going to hear the end of it soon. Her people just beat my people.
Ah, understandable. Having the wife add insult to injury.... yeah, I can see that stinging a bit.
Will the defeat-hate sex make up for it though?
Maybe. A little hate sex does shake things up a bit and that is a good thing.
Will the defeat-hate sex make up for it though?
He's married, so it's a same-sex relationship: It's always the same sex.
You must be doing it wrong.
At least Eric Holder is going to get cited for contempt.
On a day it won't make the news. But long term that is good news.
Today is the most disappointing thing since Prometheus.
The two are more similar then at first glance.
Prometheus is a pile of shit but has enough weird and interesting things in it to spur discussion (black alien Jesus!!!)....this dogs meal of a ruling is much the same.
Maybe what Roberts did to the Commerce Clause has seeded the embryo of liberty into statism's chest. Give it enough time and liberals will have the same shocked faces as the crew in Alien when the first spurt of chest-blood came out.
Fuck. Number One Son is in Hamburg right now, cheering on the Germans. This will ruin his day.

*sploosh!*
*sniff* What's that smell?
Pelosi is a better at her job then Boner ever will be.
Republicans suck at even being Republicans.
