Recalls Only for "Official Misconduct" Say Wisconsin Voters
This is tea-leaf reading, of course, and how people actually voted on the recall itself won't be disclosed until polling places shut their doors at 8 pm, Central Time, but there may be some encouraging tidbits for partisans of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Wisconsin voters, according to early exit polls, think recall elections should be reserved for "official misconduct," and they generally approve of the changes to collective bargaining agreements for government workers that helped spark the kerfuffle in the Badger State.
According to CBS News:
On the issue of collective bargaining, 50 percent of Wisconsin voters say they approved of the recent changes to state law that limits collective bargaining for government workers, but 48 percent disapproved of these changes. …
More generally, 54 percent of Wisconsin voters surveyed think government should generally have a more limited role when it comes to solving problems, compared to 42 percent who said government should do more. These views are similar to November 2010.
The exit polls also showed that 60 percent of Wisconsin voters today said recall elections are only appropriate for official misconduct, while 28 percent think they are suitable for any reason. Nine percent think they are never appropriate.
On the other hand, "52 percent of Wisconsin voters in the early exit polls have a favorable view of unions for government workers," and today's voters favor Barack Obama over Mitt Romney in the presidential contest by 51 percent to 45 percent.
Actual results of today's election wll be coming to you in mere hours.

Our electoral system encourages short-sightedness enough as it is, without recalls mucking things up even more. We have impeachment processes for serious misconduct.
I say we sell Wisconsin to Canada. Ooh, or give it as a gift for QEIIs 75th. It'll be a lot better than the iPad with the free version of Angry Birds that Obama was going to give her.
This recall vote shows the power of the government class. They probably will have more power in the future.
Cool story, bro.

J.D,
So why did you spell "Nine" but use numbers elsewhere?
I remember being instructed in school when writing papers to spell out numbers less than 10. Or 10 or less or some shit. Whatever.
AP style is usually to spell out 1-10, Chicago style usually spells out 1-100, which seems weird to me.
Thanks Terr, I didn't know the convention on that. I thought it might be a beginning-of-sentence thingy, something his word processor algorithm had a serious problem with, or a signal to the Illuminati.
That's standard AP style. Also, the quoted stuff is rendered as it appeared in the original document.
Fuck the AP. I want everything spelled out or put in scientific notation. Except for currency. If you're currency, the rules are different.
We can use scientific notation on our currency when it goes all Zimbabwe and have to print 1E6 dollar bills
Of course Zimbabwe was hitting, what, 1E12? But the point still stands, fuck the AP.
Fuck tha AP
Comin straight from the underground
Young nigga got it bad cuz I'm brown
And not the other color so journalists think
They have the authority to edit a minority
"Chicago style usually spells out 1-100"
It also has sport peppers and celery salt.
So it's sort of the Chicago version of the Cleveland Steamer then?
Which hot dog includes kraut? Is it Chicago or New York? Because I like the one with the kraut.
You know who else liked krauts?
Seal?
+size 0
Costco $1.50 hot dogs (with soda) have kraut, but it's an extra $0.25 and only if you ask.

By jove, you might be onto something.
Proposal: An "anti-recall".
The politico, randomly selected, has to *remain* in office for another term.
That way, the economic results of the claims of 'saving the children and the elderly' will be visited on the one making the claims.
So, some percentage believe this recall is inappropriate but will vote for it anyway.
Voters. The only people stupider are politicians.
