Happy National Day of Reason!
Alas, it is not a celebration of this illustrious magazine and website. The proclamation from Rep. Pete Stark (D-Calif.) marking today as the National Day of Reason, explains:
The National Day of Reason celebrates the application of reason and the positive impact it has had on humanity. It is also an opportunity to reaffirm the Constitutional separation of religion and government.
The NDR was established as a secular response to the National Day of Prayer. Two thoughts: First, maybe we could just rid of Congressional proclamations of special days altogether. It isn't as though Congress doesn't have other problems that might benefit from its members attention.
Secondly, why limit reason to just one day?

So Congress stopped passing laws today?
Zing!

Today is my birthday. Coincidence? Or irony?
Drink!
Don't mind if I do!

For a day called Reason...
Hmm, sounds like trademark infringement. I suggest that the Reason Foundation sue Congress. Having your name associated something so ridiculously stupid will surely hurt your donation and revenue stream. Clearly, the only rememdy is through the civil courts. Plus, you could just pick a number, let's say, $8 trillion. They can afford it, mostly because they own the printing presses.
Pete Stark being told Obamacare is unconstitutional.

The problem isn't that he isn't a believer, it's the crazy shit he believes in.
I would think any rational person would pray Pete Stark suffers a debilitating brain aneurysm. Or that he recovers from the current one.
Every day has to have a saint theme.
It is also an opportunity to reaffirm the Constitutional separation of religion and government.
That's rich coming from Pete "The federal government can do most anything in this country" Stark.

Actually, I would prefer that Congress spend as much time as possible on inconsequential crap like this.
I propose that Congress spend every day making proclamations of special days. Every day... all day.
So Congress has gone out of its way to say that Reason is the opposite of Religion. Nice going dickheads, there's already enough atheist assholes around doing that. Not every atheist is a purely reasonable person and not every believer is a fanatical zealot.
Nobody said that every atheist is a reasonable person. I should leave it at that for now.
No, we need even more days for specific things.

and abortion.... and the right to bear arms... and ummm it has to stand for other stuff also.. my name is on it. I am glad I could do something.
Personally I'd be happy if Congress spent all its time and money finding new "special" days to proclaim. Any time they spend on this is less time they spend kidnapping/slaughtering innocents.
No way man are those guys for real? Seriousy?
