Brickbat: Gun Control
New York City's Consumer Affairs office fined Jamal Ahmad $30,000 after they found a 99 cent store he owned carried toy sheriff's sets with fake handguns. Although the guns had bright orange tips, officials say they violate a city ordinance barring the sale of realistic-looking toy guns.

... You guys are idiots. Why do people think everyone wants to go to New York?
Yet another example of the vast intelligence that inhabits NYC.
Maybe they watched Airheads the other day and got spooked about what the rabble might accomplish with some toy guns and chutzpah?
saw a sign on the subway which read:
"in NY, its illegal to paint a toy gun to look real & illegal to paint a real gun to look like a toy"
OK, so I better not take the Ruger Police Service Six .357 with the orange front blade to NYC. Got it.
So the people who are willing to do bad things with a gun, breaking lots of felonies will obey this one...got it.
Now you understand how gun free zones make us safe!
it was a public service ad intended for those who read them.
remember tim, ignorance of the law...
So, the city says (a) you cannot sell a realistic-looking toy gun, and (b) that painting an orange tip on a real gun is not allowed because it makes it look like an unrealistic-looking toy gun.
Wouldn't that mean that a toy gun with an orange tip is unrealistic-looking?
A.B.U.
Some days you take the 9/11 Today Show footage in a different light.
Woo hoo!
I just attempted to spoof post as White Indian, and a third-party spam filter prevented me from doing so.
OK now that jsut does not make any sense at all to me dude, none,
I feel safer now.
OK now that jsut does not make any sense at all to me dude, none,
The rule is designed to prevent cops from mistaking the toys for the real thing ? and shooting an innocent kid ? and to thwart criminals from using them to commit crimes.
Don't you just get a thrill up your leg about how the first intent of a law is to restrain the people from buying toy guns, rather than restraining the police from willfully shooting the people?
Lives were saved by this, you monsters!
rather than restraining the police from willfully shooting the people?
Dude- split second decisions! How can you be sure that little kid with the six-shooter isn't a grizzled criminal mastermind? I saw it on Bugs Bunny, so you know it's just a matter of time.
We better outlaw staplers too. And Batman Begins.
There's the root of it. He missed a hearing. He disrespected authority. For that he will pay.
Or his former manager missed a payment.
Just sayin'.....
Officials know who they hire and officials know their hirees cannot distinguish between a real gun and a pop-gun, thanks to the Wise Latina and people of her ilk.
"... New York..."
That's all I needed to hear, and I stopped reading.
Eastern Mississippi trailer park, or NYC? Eastern Mississippi trailer park, every fucking time.
Fuck New York.
Sounds like the cop the 15-year-old was standing next to was the dangerous element in this story.
How did we ever survive all those years when every child had a toy gun which didn't even make any attempt to look fake? What the fuck is wrong with people?
