Gingrich Promises to "Impose the Future," Return to Florida
Orlando, Fla. - Shortly after declaring, "Forty-six states to go," Former Orange County Mayor and Gingrich supporter Rich Crotty announced to a thin-but-vocal crowd of Newt supporters, "It's not over."
And the wake came alive.
Minutes later, Gingrich took the stage and thanked Floridians. Though they didn't give him any delegates for the Republican convention, they made "clear this will be a two-person race between the conservative Newt Gingrich, and the Massachusetts Moderate." (Mitt Romney, I presume.)
"I just want to reassure the media we will contest every place and we are going to win and we will be in Tampa as the nominee in August."
The money line, in this humble reporter's opinion, was Gingrich's promise to "impose the future on the establishment, and on both parties."
That's a campaign slogan if I've ever heard one.

At least I'm honest.
The royal We. What an asshole.
Either pregnant, schizophrenic or God. He looks the first, conducts himself in the second manner, and believes himself the latter.
Why is this sacred honor all sticky?
Does this mean Newt is now running as an independent?
He's gonna sit on us.
If Ron Paul somehow wins the Republican nomination you can bet your ass he'll run as an independent.
There is nothing that Newt Gingrich wants less than Obama winning than having Ron Paul win.
Regarding "46 states to go", Newt didn't qualify for the ballot in Virginia or Missouri.
But there are 57 states!
In the future we're all dead, like Newt's campaign.
Ron Paul should move in and snake Callista from Newt right away.
If he busted a load on her mug on live TV I could see him winning the under 80 vote overwhelmingly.
Since when are octogenarians lumped together as haters of facials and pearl necklaces?
Hypothetically, what if John King wasn't a douchebag?
IMPOSING THE FUTURE
This is now my new favorite phrase.
"I'm gonna impose the future on this plate of bacon and eggs."
I imposed the future in Orlando once.
When bread becomes toast it can never go back.
"You should wait a minute or two before going in there, I just imposed a pretty healthy future in there."
Will the Giants impose the future on the Patriots on Sunday? Or will the Patriots impose the future on them? Only Newt knows!
I really only wanna know if they are going to impose the future on Madonna this weekend.
Holy christ that shit is gonna be terrible.
Worse than the Black Eyed Peas without an auto-tuner?
...
Yeah, could be.
I'm pretty sure the future will happen with or without Newt.
You are so wrong.
Newt is the FULCRUM OF THE FUTURE!
I'm confused. Am I supposed to be watching MSNBC's post-Republican primary Democratic strategizing session?
Just to give you a flavor if you haven't been watching:
(Maddow, Shultz, Sharpton, O'Donnell, Matthews, Democratic Party Representative): "Democratic Party talking point, Democratic Party talking point, Democratic Party talking point, Democratic Party talking point, Democratic Party talking point, Democratic Party talking point, Democratic Party talking point, Democratic Party talking point, Democratic Party talking point, Democratic Party talking point, Democratic Party talking point, Democratic Party talking point."
You are strange to watch that. I'd opt for pissing into an electric socket over that.
That's certainly a strange way to impose the future.
A fellow once told me abut the time he talked a boy into pissing on the spark plug of a running lawn mower.
That's wrong.
A fellow once told me abut the time he talked a boy into pissing on the spark plug of a running lawn mower.
That fellow would be pulling on your lower appendage.
Ever see birds sitting on a power line? Unless that kid touched the metal of the mower he would have been out of the HV circuit. In fact, the insulation on the spark plug should be sufficient to hold off the current path to the pisser.
... Hobbit
Ah, but do the birds touch the ground also?
Ther's these two feather'd fellers, a standin' on a wire, a goin' to th' bathroom. One feller says th't th' lawn 's cold, 't other feller says th't th' lawn 's deep. I b'lieve one feller come fr'm Arkansas. Git it?
Hmmm... did that guy look like this?
I got some popsicles in the basement.
has this been on Mythbusters yet?
Shortly after declaring, "Forty-six states to go,"
Newt clearly recognizes that the reigning post-Florida meme will be the one about "Romney's momentum/inevitability." So his challenge right now is to emphasize the long view (a framing that is also beneficial to Paul). (And to Santorum; although at this point, meh-whatever with regards to Santorum's campaign.)
The thing is: He's also right. This "momentum/inevitability" stuff needs to go, in general. There really are 50 states. It would be nice to see a primary process where all of them get an actual, meaningful say in the matter, rather than this ritual bullshit where the media gets to call the entire race after a handful of early primaries and thus help mold reality by asserting a Conventional Wisdom Narrative.
In Soviet Russia, state impose future on YOU!

Impost the Future!
Not saying Romney is or is not a "moderate", but what basis does Newt Bitchtits use to determine someone else as a "moderate", when Bitchtits himself has no consistent classifiable "conservative" or "liberal" preference on issues other than being a predictable statist?
Here's the basis:
Repeat a big lie often enough and people believe it's the truth.
How have you imposed the future today?
Any future including Newt Gingrich would be an imposition.
Win.
Unless you have money to burn, sadly it is time to stop answering the RP money bombs and start storing up your contributions for the Gary Johnson campaign. A local talk radio guy was just gloating about "now the Paul lunatics have been given the boot"
from the Republican tent.
Half of them openly despise Paul or his supporters. The cold comfort is that come from those deluded enough to think Newt is a small government advocate.

I'm trying to work through your expressed reasoning here:
A "local talk radio guy" just declared that Ron Paul has been "given the boot"; thus it naturally follows that Gary Johnson is the only libertarian hope?
I think you skipped a link or two in your chain of thinking there.
A local talk radio guy was just gloating about "now the Paul lunatics have been given the boot" from the Republican tent.
Well fuck them! I hope they enjoy 4 more years of Black Kennedy! You know come to think of it what's not to like....carrying on the 3rd GWB term in fine fashion!
Didn't you post this exact message last week?
My response then is the same now:
Give money to Paul to spread his message now and he'll get more airtime and press than Johnson ever could in his own run.
This lays the groundwork, so that if Johnson does end up as the LP candidate against Rombama his ideas will sound more reasonable and less 'out there'
Don't give the money to Paul now and Johnson has to do the intellectual heavy lifting all on his own with just 2 months to go to the election.
Gingrich winning White low class, poorly educated, Tea Party crowd in North Florida.
What are you saying there Shrike?
He's being a snooty, intellectual prick.
Like Tony.
Just like Tony.
John:
Would you like to take my bet that supposed Tea Party supporters are voting for anything other than fiscal conservatism in these primary races? Because in 4 races out of 4, they have been.
Plenty of fiscally conservative Republicans have legitimate grievances with RP's past associations and his foreign policy. Those people have no fiscal conservative alternatives (now that GJ bugged out).
Even Perry and Bachman were more believable than the current crowd.
This hasn't been noted yet at Hit & Run (I don't think), but there was an important development in the Ron Paul story today:
Billionaire Peter Thiel (the seasteading guy) has joined up with a Paul-oriented Super PAC.
This is a pretty significant bit of news, and could prove to be critical to Paul's advertising presence as the primaries go on...
Wow, the comments on that story are encouraging. Somebody is getting the "non-interventionist is not isolationist" message out there. It will be interesting to see if that writer makes the mistake again. Or maybe they only do it because they know they will get 700 comments to their story.
John Derbyshire, on Radio Derb last week, did a back-of-the-napkin calculation on what it would take to establish a permanent US settlement on the moon with 13000 inhabitants, as Newt Starcaster proposes. He came up with about $100 trillion.
Derb's a reactionary asshole, it will only cost half that.
For scale, I once did a rough calculation on how much it would cost to install enough of these to service every existing dwelling on Earth. If I recall correctly, the figure (using Hyperion's estimates) was in the neighborhood of $52T.
93% of Florida Republicans are idiots.
Impale the Future!
At least he didn't sing?
Mr. Gingrich doesn't want it. He doesn't need to be labeled, "still worthy of being a 'Bain Man.'" What the hell is that? What is your motto here? Boys, inform on your classmates, save your hide. Anything short of that, we're gonna burn you at the stake? Well, gentlemen! When the shit hits the fan, some guys run and some guys stay. Here's Mitt, facing the fire, and there's Newt ? hiding in Big Daddy's pocket. And what are you doing? You're gonna reward Newt, and destroy Mitt.
When you reach over, and put your hand into a pile of goo, that was your best friend's face -- you'll know what to do!
Hmm... we have at least two candidates who want to "impose the future" - Gingrich, and Obama.
You want a vision of the future? Picture a manboob slapping against a human face...forever.
Or replace "manboob" with "Barry".
both gingrich and romney's political promises will only serve to worsen the existing shortcomings in the tax system.
