Barney Frank Is Retiring From the House
"Longtime Democratic Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts will announce on Monday that he will not seek a 17th term in Congress next year," National Journal reports. "Frank will make his announcement at the Newton City Hall in the afternoon."
With Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tx.) also retiring, there will be no one left in the House to introduce a symbolic bill to repeal the federal prohibition of marijuana.

Only 32 years too late.
Good riddance.
His job destroying the US must be done....
"He will take this opportunity to spend more time as an employment broker for his gay lovers."
In other news, Flake appears to be polling well for the Senate seat of Arizona. Flake and Paul (Rand that is) would make a pretty decent dynamic duo in the upper chamber and have alot more influence than in the house.
Another fat fuck politician who should be in jail, but will instead get glowing editorials about being a liberal lion who created so much good for the people (when the complete opposite is the case).
Who needs term limits?
Ding, dong, the queen is dead!
Winner
Bawny the Frank is retiring?
The chump line will be good today.
More chump line, less Howie. We'd all be better off.
Haven't listened to Howie in awhile (tired of the same old schtick). Need to remind myself to tune in on the way home today.
Frank was also tried to overturn the ban on internet gamboling. He voted against the FISA Amendments Act giving retroactive immunity to companies handing over info to the NSA.
He was horrible in many other ways, especially in regards to the mortgage meltdown, but he was far from the most offensive congresscritter.
I can't celebrate his exit from congress because he will likely be replaced by someone even worse.
There is a ban on internet "gamboling"? Does that mean we can turn white Indian into the feds?
Its hard to net out a handful of good votes from a long history of crony capitalism and personal corruption, especially when that history culminated in the destruction of hundreds of billions of dollars and the financial security of hundreds of thousands of people.
But, he's definitely in the top ten Worst Serving Congressment.
But, he's definitely in the top ten Worst Serving Congressment.
That's stiff competition...are you sure?
He's got a big mouth (inset joke here), but theres alot of backbenchers that have worse voting records than he does.
Backbenchers being idiots do less damage than Barney has. He is probably the Congressman with the most fingerprints on the housing bubble and collapse.
I agree he is one of the top ten worst currently serving and perhaps all time. Let's nominate a few more!
Of note :
Maxine Waters (huge part in the F&F collapse, funneled loans to S&L her husband had a stake in)
Henry Waxman (half-man/ half-pig creature from Beverly Hills who formerly chaired the oh-so-ironically named "Oversight and Government Reform" committee and regularly held witchhunts for his own parties agenda as such)
Pete Stark (fucking hates America but ESPECIALLY her servicemen and women - no, seriously, he REALLY fucking hates America, but LOOOOOOVES the government and , by his reckoning, its unlimited power over YOUR life)
Charlie Rangel (writes tax laws, then evades said laws, does not "deal in ordinary people"...)
Nancy Pelosi (where to begin? Dismisses legitimate constitutional questions of Obamacare with a shrieking/ hysterical "ARE YOU SERIOUS?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?" then doesn't actually answer any question)
Steny Hoyer (lapdog of Satan's mistress above)
Dennis Kucinich (epsilon semi-moron who floats such ludicrous conspiracy theories that he has actually locked in the coveted Michael Moore demographic's presidential support; shows DNC gratitude to trial-lawyer lobby by filing frivolous lawsuits against small businesses)
George Miller ( helped write and push through Obamacare; half the lobbyists on K-street are his former interns)
Debbie Wasserman Schultz (complete imbecile who is unable to form a sentence without the phrase "Its turned the corner!" somehow working its way in)
And honorary mention goes to John Murtha who has unfortunately suffered the fate we will all suffer once Obamacare is implemented.
I defy anyone to name any REPUBLICAN congressional barons as collectively offensive as this lot.
He wont be replaced by anyone from MA. The seat is now gone to another state. Never felt so good to be less represented.
If Congress still had pages, this would be their happiest day ever.
Best news I've seen all day.
Rot in hell you fat fuck
Strange how this announcement coincides with the elimination of congressional pages.
Just saying.
He can now devote more time to his home business.
He can now devote more time to his home business.
You have been a shining example and an inspiration to us all, Rep. Frank. Your passing from Congress will be mourned deeply. We can only hope that you will find ways to help the country outside of Congress. Godspeed.
You have been a shining example of the adage that absolute power corrupts absolutely and served as warning to us all, Rep. Frank. Your passing from Congress will be felt deeply as our pocketbooks start filling again. We can only hope that you will find ways to help the country outside of Congress by getting out of our sight. May God have mercy on your soul, such as it is.
Rest assured, Rep. Frank, that you leave the House Banking Committee in very capable hands as the new Democrat ranking member will be Maxine Waters. Sleep peacefully knowing the Country's finances will receive continued competent stewardship.
"the new Democrat ranking member will be Maxine Waters"
Oh crap. Are you serious? Somehow that makes me want Barney to stick around.
According to Jonah.
Now that he's stepping down, Barney Frank's seat will be wide open.
You are all welcome.
People like me voted with our feet and left Taxachusetts forever - causing the state to lose a Congressional seat next year.
Frank won every year in the most blatantly gerrymandered seat in the country. No way could they keep him - even in MA - as they redraw the map.
