Poll of the Day, GOP vs. Tea Party Presidential Split Edition
The above comes from an interesting and persuasive Ronald Brownstein piece in the National Journal, explaining the volatility in the GOP race as a function of Tea Party Republicans frantically searching for Anybody But Mitt. Excerpt:
In the twelve national CNN/ORC surveys about the race conducted since January four different candidates have held or shared the national lead: ex-Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and businessman Donald Trump (neither of whom actually entered the race), Romney and Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Other national polls this year have recorded leads for former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and more recently businessman Herman Cain.
That's an extraordinary level of volatility: not since Barry Goldwater's insurgent win in 1964 have so many Republican candidates held a lead in national surveys before the first votes were cast. But a closer look at the CNN/ORC numbers suggests that the Republican race is settling down along one track, while still rapidly oscillating on the other.
Hmmm…who could be missing from those squiggly lines above?

Give it up, Welch. Santorum isn't getting the nomination.
Santorum hasn't appealed to anybody since 2006. 5 years after his expiration date, man he must smell.
Newcular Titties?
It's just mind-boggling. Paul's been hanging around at a level that would garner all sorts of talk and placement in these kinds of polls if he were, say, N.T. Gingrich or some other "certified" candidate.
And it's not just him and Johnson, either. There are any number of credible candidates (leaving aside whether they are good or not), and, given the non-excitement over the ones being pushed the hardest, there's really no one who who couldn't win, if things fell a certain way.
Ugh...Santorum?

Ron Paul?

RuPaul is a man?!?
You mean the Ron Paul mentioned at the top of this story?
Man, the mango does kinda suck.
It's funny how fast Perry dropped among teapartiers in just a couple of weeks.
If only the GOP nomination wasn't so debate heavy....the leash on rick was just long enough...

Really, it's stupid to only include four people. Even Gingrich is moving up lately, and Bachmann is finally revealed as the joke candidate she is.
Gingrich has been moving up because he's been debating the moderators, a group of people the GOP hate almost as much as Obama. I must admit, its a sound strategy.
And he's singing Kumbaya about the GOP field. "Let's unite against the dark one!"
It won't get him the nom, but there's a bunch of annoyed old people that get confused and angry and he represents them well.
But imagine the entertainment value of having him debate Obama.
I don't see how he would
I'm so disappointed no one called me a racist. I'm gonna go cry in the corner now.
Racist! Weepy racist! Go to your cornet!
Interesting that Bachman's apparently doing slightly better among the "non-Tea Party" Republicans than with the Tea Party -- Presumably because the Tea Party crowd knows her better.
Give it up, Reason - Steve Chapman already told everybody what you really think.
Zing!

Jesus, Old Mex. Don't tell me you're a Paultard (not to be confused with a Ron Paul enthusiast) too?
I'm whatever Katherine Mangu-Ward wants me to be! Wink, wink!
Herman Cain Clown Posse.
ahhahaahhahaha
Fucking nines, how do they work?
You know who else is missing?
Huntsman is just a Romney spur.
Oh, lucky Fartriloquist pointed that out. You wouldn't have had much fun in Stalingrad, would you?
Thaddeus McCotter?
Buddy Roemer?
"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan?
So, when Bachmann drops out on January 4, whom is she going to endorse?
Romney, lol. The rank-and-file are "anyone but Romney", while the political establishment is "anyone but Paul".
A non-Tea Party Republican is basically a Democrat who can't fill out a voter registration card correctly.
I often focus on the insane stupidity of today's left in the face of opposition and how they simply dig in their heals rather then adapt.
Apparently there is a portion of the GOP who are potentially worse.
I guess David Brooks' shit smears in the NYT does have a readership. Who knew?
the volatility in the GOP race as a function of Tea Party Republicans frantically searching for Anybody But Mitt.
I guess.
What I look forward to is the full on Republican revolt that would occur if Mitt squeaks by and gets the nomination.
Anyway Cain looks to be getting gains even among the none tea party crowd....Mitt on the other hand is in a tail spin. The question is can the the non-tea party GOP see the writing on the wall? or do they continue to mistakenly think that statists with an (R) next to their name gets votes?
"Mitt on the other hand is in a tail spin."
Don't you mean Rick (Perry)?

"I think he makes that white Republican base of the party feel okay, feel that they're not racist because they can like this guy, I think they like him because he's a black man who knows his place."
Got to love the left.
So I guess white republicans think the place for a black man is to be the president of the United States.
They are such racists.
I think they like him because he's a black man who knows his place.
Haha, yeah, his place as president of the United States.
Notice in the chart above they gave the black trend line to Wonderbread Mitt? RACISTS!
The data is socomplicated
And people call OWS stupid?
The fact that the tea party is so high on Cain is proof that the majority of them are bloody ignorant fools.
Neither movement has any grasp on what the problems are, and they are dangerously short on an ability to recognize con-men, liars, and fools.
