X-Men Commentary: The Sequel
As mentioned below, the Gillespie/Welch duo had a Declaration-derived op-ed in the L.A. Times a week ago about how the latest X-Men shows "We're All Mutants Now," and why that's a better and more radical thing than most people realize. Now, thanks to the miracle of modern wire services, the piece has appeared in two other newspapers: the San Jose Mercury-News and Seattle Times, each of which have reader comments worth checking out. Also worth a look is this Ta-Nahesi Coates New York Times op-ed, which makes the argument that X-Men: First Class actually whitewashes American racial history.
X-Men after its second weekend is on the verge of breaking through $100 million at the box office.
