George C. Scott is just trying to watch his stories but Sir Ian McKellen won't shut up.

  2. John   14 years ago

I don't see how DSK doesn't go full Polanski here. All he has to do is cut the bracelet off, get in a car and onto a waiting private jet and he is home free back in France. You can't tell me his friends wouldn't easily raise the five million in forfeited bail and provide a jet to get him home.

    1. Name Nomad   14 years ago

      #1 rule of politics:

It's the rising stars that you try to make friends with. Never hitch yourself to a failure, because there's no way that an alliance with one can help you in the future.

      1. Name Nomad   14 years ago

I just realized that you meant "friends" as in someone who cares about his well-being/etc. Politicians at such a high level don't really have those.

        1. John   14 years ago

But there are plenty of rich socialists in France who would gladly pony up to stick it in the eye of the Americans. They don't need to care about his well being to help him escape.

      2. John   14 years ago

Maybe he is friendless but I doubt it.

      3. James Ard   14 years ago

Another great first rule of politics could be found in yesterday's morning links:
Martin Lomasney ("The Mahatma," as he was called) and his first rule of politics: "Never write if you can speak; never speak if you can nod; never nod if you can wink."

        1. Monty Python   14 years ago

A nod's as good as a wink to a blind man, eh?

          1. Greer   14 years ago

            say no more.

        #1 Rule of Politics Club....don't talk about....etc....

    2. WTF   14 years ago

I heard on the news this morning that apparently he is also being monitored by armed guards, so it may not be all that easy.

      1. John   14 years ago

Perhaps not. I think it is highly probable he is guilty and highly probable he will be convicted.

        1. WTF   14 years ago

I agree, which is why I think he will certainly try to flee if the opportunity presents itself.

          1. Tyler Derpden   14 years ago

            Here's what he's gonna do.

  3. Spoonman.   14 years ago

  12. NoStar   14 years ago

Good morning, Suki, where ever you are.

  13. Mike M.   14 years ago

The IMF guy had better get the hell out of there before DSK starts thinking about raping him.

    1. rather   14 years ago

The IMF represents the taxpayer and is willing to be fucked; there's no pleasure/power in a willing victim

  14. P Brooks   14 years ago

    Needs more labels.

      Second - my reaction exactly

  15. Mongo   14 years ago

Fat, dumpy guys always increase the humor. Slim cats, not so much.

  16. Max   14 years ago

Gosh, this is as funny as Soviet satire used to be. Attacking official enemies is always hilarious.

    1. Mr. FIFY   14 years ago

We'll remember that next time you attack a right-of-center American politician.

  17. Almanian   14 years ago

I'm sorry, Bok lovers - I did not find this humorous. Nor funny.

    1. Almanian   14 years ago

...and why is David Letterman in the cell holding a saddlebag?

      1. Almanian   14 years ago

...and why is Boris Yeltsin in jail, wearing boxers with hearts on them? I thought he died 3 or 4 years ago...?

        1. Mikhail Gorbachev   14 years ago

Kome o? Comrades, really? Let's be serious.

  18. Fist of Etiquette   14 years ago

Strauss-Kahn should have stink lines coming off him to indicate he's French.

    1. Mr. FIFY   14 years ago

      Raaaaacist!!!

      1. Mr. FIFY   14 years ago

Seriously... years ago, a girl I dated called me a racist because I made a joke about the French.

Never mind how fucking white they are... somehow, it's STILL racist.

        Well, to liberals, that is.

  19. sloopyinca   14 years ago

His lawyer's nose doesn't look Jewish enough. And he should be gesticulating with his arms.
