I must protest. I've been reading Reason for years, and I'm just as tired of the two parties as I've ever been. More so, even!
I know, Reasonites are smarter than 220 years of political evolution. Many of the writers at Reason appear to buy the bulls shit of the left. For example drug laws. Reasonites claim America sucks because cocaine and meth is not legal. We are a Neanderthal nation of rubes and stupid patriots. However I keep looking for that enlightened country that has legalized hard drugs, or even the reefer. I can't find it. Before someone freaks out about Portugal or Spain or Holland or whatever and how you can get high all you want and the government even gives it to you free, do a quick check on those so called laws, and see that it's not really as rosey for pot smokers in those countries as you lead on. And hard drugs are banned in Europe just like in America, and they kick down doors in Europe also.
We are a Neanderthal nation of rubes and stupid patriots.
Couldn't have said it any better.
See!
"I know, Reasonites are smarter than 220 years of political evolution."
Yes, go on ...
As Lord Acton once said, "Liberalism is concerned with what should be, not what is."
And before you go equating liberalism (in the classical sense) with the left, go shoot yourself in the head.
The headline threw me off when it spelled reason? with a capital "R."
Magazine? no, but I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
I think that headline calls for a drink!
OMG! Reason is trying to profit off of the political turmoil of the day? Vultures!

Do we get any cool Reason swag with a subscription? Bumper stickers? Autographed photos of Lobster Girl?

"You right-wing libertarian true-believers don't have ennough sense of irony and self deprecation to be really funny. Always attacking offical enimies and defending holy writ--it's all too ernest."
returns...
Also why does this site make you go back to the home page after making a comment? You aren't able just to browse back after a comment. Is that to get more clicks?

"Also why does this site make you go back to the home page after making a comment?"
Doesn't with firefox. Dunno about IE#X.
Doesn't make me do it.
Is that to get more clicks?
Yes
It doesn't do that to me though. It does take extra clicks to navigate between an article's comments to a H&R post.
Then you'll be tired of three political parties!
You make that sound like a bad thing!
... Hobbit
...and there still won't be a dime's worth of difference between the parties!
While Reason tends to trade in libertarian ideas, I don't see this publication blindly hocking libertarian candidates.
Depends. Do I get the super secret Libertarian decoder ring for subscribing?
How about access to the Koch Bros' secret society of rich people hell-bent on eradicating America because, well just because?
Yeah, damn Koch brothers. Always donating millions to defeat the Patriot Act and founding the Cato Institute. Those bastards also happen to be among the most charitable in the country. I hate em too.
Look at that trigger discipline.
Atrocious.
Amen
Treating both parties equally with respect to the principles you care about is a good way to excuse the worse offender for its abuses.
Which is to say, hating Democrats for a small tax increase the same way you hate Republicans for the patriot act or horrific phony wars makes you seem as if you've opened your mind enough for your brain to fall out.
Embrace the Democrats! Because they're not Republicans! Thanks for proving the stupidity of partisan politics. Note that "being sick of Democrats and Republicans" is not dependent on the two being equally abhorred. But it was nice effort Tony. Weak, but nice.
Also, another reason to hate the Democrats is because, while they might say they are against the patriot act or wars, they don't do a hell of alot to put a stop to those things. Did either of those things end when we had a Democrat Congress and President? Nope. You're pathetic.
Horrific fuck ups that entrench US forces for the better part of a decade aren't going to end with the snap of a finger.
"Horrific fuck up"
Last quote heard from Toni's dad after abruptly leaving for good upon hearing that his wife was pregnant with their one and only child.
Act with the courage of your convictions and all things are possible.
