Reasoners on The Freedom Watch With Da Judge: Nick Gillespie Talks Down Presidents on Their Very Special Day

Because freedom isn't free and even though death takes a holiday every now and then but tyranny works 365 days a year, Reason's Nick Gillespie will appear on a very special Presidents Day episode of Fox Business' Freedom Watch with Judge Andrew Napolitano. (Hey, isn't every day Presidents Day, at least since John "The Hermaphrodite" Adams, Chimpy McHitler and Barack Saddam Hussein Bin Laden Obama shredded the Constitution and turned it into confetti for that Bilderberger victory parade at Walt Disney's private island hideaway?).

The Judge's show airs at 8pm ET on Fox Business channel (go here for more details) and the theme tonight is just how bad many of our most venerated presidents really were when it comes to adhering to the principle of limited government and maximizing individual liberty. Along with Gillespie, who has never voted for a winning presidential candidate, other guests throughout the hour include former Nixon assistant Monica Crowley, economist Thomas DiLorenzo, and historian Thomas Woods.

I understand the point that Ms.Dalmia is trying to make in that Al Qaeda inspires more "lone wolf" attack attempts than actual organized specific group attacks like the 9/11 flight teams. But she seems to believe that the idea of Al Qaeda or any other Islamic terrorist group attacking America again in an organized structured attack as they have previously is unrealistic.

Judge makes the point that the failed NYC bomber and the Underwear bomber prove otherwise, and Ms. Dalmia defends her point by saying that these were isolated lone wolf attacks.

But they weren't. The Underwear bomber was essentially testing a reasonably complicated combination of chemicals mixed in the underpants that would cause a large explosion. There is video of him specifically training at Al-qaeda camps in Shabwah province in Yemen ( http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/.....d=10479470 ) prior to his attack attempt.

This is evidence that these attacks are not "lone-wolf" isolated events. Whether or not Al Qaeda is still a threat in the way it was on 9/11 remains to be seen, but clearly they remain a threat and are capable of causing a lot of damage and death if they were successful.

I'm also tired of Dalmia harping on about Bush and Iraq by using the WMD argument. WMD's were not the only reason we went there, and yes, they were supporting international Islamic terrorists in the country, no matter how much she wants to deny it. Zarqawi fled Afghanistan after US troops arrived post 9/11, and went straight to Iraq with all of his buddies. I'm tired of people ignoring this reality.

Whenever I get into an argument with a lefty, I always set up the "FDR trap", which they never fail to fall for. Lincoln is another good one (works for TEAM RED and TEAM BLUE).

If lefties complain that people were starving during the Great Depression, I ask why FDR found it necessary to burn people's crops if they grew more than their quota. Wouldn't more crops be better if people were starving?

But the easiest trap to lay is the obvious one: the Japanese internment. Press home that one if you really want to see a lefty squirm. Listen as you hear the Bushisms fall out of their mouth in defense of their hero. "National security", "desperate times", "people in glass houses sink ships", etc.

The name "President's Day" has only slightly more official status than "Turkey Day" for Thanksgiving, in that I understand there are some states that have adopted that name for the holiday, although federally the official name is still Washington's Birthday. Last I remember, though, his actual birthday was still in doubt -- something about whether it might've been before or after midnight on the night of the 21st or 22nd, or by the Julian calendar, or something.

Personally I think her use of the word "peasant" is more descriptive of her point of view then it is a description of Al Qaeda. When the fuck did this become about class?
