In my original post, I referred to Herman Cain and other black conservatives as 'race minstrels' and 'mascots' for the White conservative imagination. I stand by this observation.
Whole thing here, original post here, link via former Reason intern Amanda Carey. Note that A) the author is black (or at least claims to be), and B) writes under a (fanciful!) pseudonym.

Hey Matt, a friend of mine said he heard you (he thinks it was the SE of Reason) on the radio here in Seattle yesterday. Was that you and do you recall the topic? I think Ken Schram was the guy doing the interview.
Yes, liberals, the same liberals who shout and interrupt when Ann Coulter or anyone they dislike tries to give a speech.
The same liberals that judged the Duke LaCrosse players guilty and never apologized even after the DA dropped the charges and was investigated himself.
The same liberals that continue to fight ROTC even though DADT has been eliminated.
The same liberals that want to legalize pot while complaining about "third-hand" tobacco smoke.

But, somehow, black liberals are NOT 'race minstrels' and 'mascots' for the White liberal imagination, or are they?

See? That's a racist comment. Opposing affirmative action and taxpayer-funded minority events Black/Hispanic/Other History Months are not.
I'm familiar with the blogger in question, of whom I'm not a fan. There are good Black bloggers, but they aren't it. Here's the assertion I take issue with. How can you claim to support a diversity of debate while requiring every Black person right of center has to disclaim the fools in his midst, but the rest of the Black political establishment doesn't have to. To be fair, I think this Herman Cain dude is an idiot politically. However, in his defense, he actually *has* stood up for programs that would cut down on racism, such as affirmative action (and gotten his butt kicked for it). Not everyone who is wrong is evil.

Yes, because mandating that objectively more qualified people get turned down for jobs, and instead hand the jobs to unqualified people based on race, is TOTALLY the best way to not be racist.
EXACTLY! If minority-based companies like BET and FUBU were told they didn't have enough diversity and needed to hire more white people, they'd be outraged.
In addition, to raucous applause at the CPAC conference, Herman Cain and Allen West both legitimated a deep hostility to President Obama that is rooted in "birtherism," and crazed paranoid narratives about tyranny and terror from America's first black president. As I and others have suggested elsewhere, these are narratives which are at their root premised on a belief that a black man who happens to be President is prima facie and de facto illegitimate.
See, he's not racist. These guys doing the "secret racist" stuff, so he's totally being consistent by saying actual racist stuff himself.
Christ. I wonder how far he's gonna dig this hole?
If a legal immigrant has to show his birth certificate to get a greencard, if a citizen has to show his to get a passport, then why shouldn't Obama have to show his to be president? Why did the governor of Hawaii say he couldn't find the records?
It would be a violation of our constitution if a foreigner had been elected president.
There is no such thing as a global citizen, much less a global president.

Not just minstrels and mascots, but the chattel property of the Democratic Party.

But do you swallow?
Hahaha, you're so funny, NOT!
He does make the "what actually qualifies as 'racist'" distinction, SI...
Ironically this brother is the chattel property of the Democratic party.

programs that would cut down on racism, such as affirmative action
Affirmative Action, by its very design, promulgates racism.

Speaking of racial tolerance...
