"Are You Serious Right Now?": The Daily Show on San Fran Happy Meal Ban
The Daily Show takes on the San Fran Happy Meal ban.
The highlight—from an interview by Daily Show correspondent Aasif Mandv with Happy Meal-hating Supervisor Eric Mar:
Mandv: Would it be hard to pass a law to force Netflix to send Super Size Me to every parent in San Francisco?
Mar: You can't force Netflix, a private company, to do something like that.
Mandv: Are you serious right now?
Mar: We have no power to force Netflix or a private company like that to change a business practice.

Are libertarians serious right now?
This must be why libertarians are obese men with small dicks, they won't let the government do what's right.
Read my blog.
Did someone drop the unabridged hard cover of Atlas Shrugged on your dog, Mr. Rather?
Hey, I'm a woman! My Daddy made sure of that.
I actually did visit your blog, and tried to read it, but babelfish has yet to create a retard to English option.
Luckily, I have sent them a very angry letter on your behalf.
I'm not sure what's funnier, the idiotic notion that the Happy Meal ban will have any impact on child obesity, or the utterly clueless nature of Mar's response.
They're going to be taking away Stewart's Liberal Card.
That the same correspondent that did the "union not allowing paid strikers to unionize" piece too.
They didn't think that one was funny, either.
I like how he goes "we can't do that" but then clarifies "we have no power to do that" just to make it clear that it is the only thing stopping him.
He forgot to add the word "yet", as well. I guess that just implied.
The transcript is pure comedy gold; I wish I could watch the video.
This reminds me of why I used to watch TDS. Stewart's water-carrying, self-righteous, mug-for-the-camera-fest, through which you have to wade to get to the good stuff, reminds me why I stopped.
That whole clip was painful. I don't know how people watch TDS on a regular basis.
Mandv is the absolute worst of their "correspondents". Back in the day, Ed Helms or Samantha Bee would have been good at an interview such as this one. Possibly Rob Riggle, if he's still doing the show.
Aasif is one of their funniest correspondents, and he totally nailed this segment. LOL'd at it.
Seriously. I'm pretty sure I have never laughed at a JS/DS joke.
It's a funny show. Granted it's gotten much less tolerable post Bush but it's still amusing enough.
Shove your right-wing propaganda up your twat, you stupid cunt.

Re: Max,
Honey, our pet yorkie became insane!
Don't they start out insane?
Dunno, but they drive everyone around them insane.
So, Stewart *can* use his powers for good.
You should fucking read some of the libtard comments on that video. WOW! Liberals are fucking idiotic, each and every one of them who defended this law are perfect candidates to press secretary for world's vilest dictators. You have to be one hell of a propagandist to rationalize authoritarianism as done generally for our own good.
Do they at least realize that Netflix is a rental service and it would be more logical (well, logic as mapped into the manifold of their ideological insanity-space) to ask whoever produces the DVDs to send them?
Jeez, the stupidity on display there. Two seconds after a law goes into effect your typical liberal cannot even imagine what life was like without it.
San Francisco has become a hub of intolerance. In 50 years, all they did was change the list of forbidden non-violent behaviors. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
That should clear things up a bit...
LOL@the "Crappy Meal".
You have a low threshold for lulz. Now I know how Judd Apatow keeps working.
That was great.
This must've been as painful for liberals to watch as when the producer of Gore's film made one in favor of school choice.
Er, guys, I hate to break up the circle jerk but most liberals probably think the happy meal ban is as silly and wrong as you do...
Yet they say nothing. If they did it might give people the idea that there are limits to government power. A dangerous precedent.
Er, guys, I hate to break up the circle jerk but most liberals probably think the happy meal ban is as silly and wrong as you do...
While I have no numbers, nor does the this equate to a scientific polling, but on other boards (open forums), the number of people who supported and defended this measure was shocking. And the acceptance vs. rejection of this ban was pretty divided on party lines.
I'll bet there would be a considerable number on say Democratic Underground that would be fine with this measure.
Then why aren't those liberals in SF voting the bastards out of office?
When effing Gavin Newsome is the voice of sanity, you know you're talking about a politically insane electorate.
That's because they're hypocrites and have arbitrary standards.
"Er, guys, I hate to break up the circle jerk but most liberals probably think the happy meal ban is as silly and wrong as you do..."
Right.
"You should fucking read some of the libtard comments on that video."
Sorry MNG, lying in the hopes of hiding liberal stupidity makes you a stupid liberal liar.
ummm... it is "liberals" who voted for this you know.
"Er, guys, I hate to break up the circle jerk but most liberals probably think the happy meal ban is as silly and wrong as you do..."
Likewise, I don't think Mike Vick should have been executed...
If I have to suffer the association with the fundies in the deep south, you guys have to deal with the Left Coast
Wow. When liberals have lost the daily show, methinks that liberals are in the same space conservatives were during GWB's late second term.
