Reason.tv Replay: Great Moments in Unintended Consequences

|

This week, Reason.tv is replaying some of its most memorable recent videos. This one originally aired on December 8, 2010.

Reason.tv presents Great Moments in Unintended Consequences!

All actions have unanticipated side effects, but government acting through regulation or legislation is particularly adept at creating disastrous unintended consequences.

Great Moments in Unintended Consequences takes a look at three instances of epic government facepalm:  Osborne Reef, Corn Ethanol Subsidies, and a particular clause in ObamaCare that is already doing more harm than good.

Approximately 3 minutes.

Produced by Austin Bragg.

  1. This week, Reason.tv is replaying some of its most memorable recent videos. This one originally aired on December 8, 2010.

This week, Hit & Run is phoning it in.

I want Great Moments in Unintended Consequences to be a series, with maybe every two weeks giving us a new one. No one likes a clips show.

    1. Two comments:

You have been all over it today, unlike most of the regulars (I was hoping to see Pro lib today). Do you have today off?

Secondly, a regular series of this would be great.

      1. Do you have today off?

My guess is he has a job that requires government to answer a phone.

ie it may as well be a day off but it isn’t.

        1. Did you ever think maybe I’m bipolar and I’m “up” right now? I’m not, but did you ever think I was?

          1. no.

    2. I second the want for GMIUC to be a series. There are so many things you could do it on:

      1. The war on drugs
      2. Public “education”
      3. The war on poverty
      4. The TSA
      5. Everything the government has ever done ever

Then you could send them to your liberal friends with a friendly SLAGI!WTBOI!WCPGW?

  2. Garry Trudeau is out on vacation, so this week’s Doonesbury will be brought to you by Bill Amend…

  3. …epic government facepalm…

A gommit official would never do a face-palm. First, it is an admission of error, which he would never grant, even to himself; second, he doesn’t want to get all that grease on his face.

  4. You guys really need a better narrator for your videos.

  5. They accidentally put “un” in front of “intended.”
