O'Donnell Exits Race for Senate, Enters Race for Choice Fox Timeslot
Christine O'Donnell has lost in Delaware. She was the most covered candidate of the election cycle, even though her fate was never really in doubt. (Delaware ain't Nevada, folks.) I wish her the best of luck in her inevitable TV gig, and I wish the punditocracy the best of luck in finding a way to cover the Senate without any witchcraft, masturbation, or kiss-and-tell douchebags with ladybug fetishes to spice up the story.

OT: What happened to the Gary Johnson thread?
Down goes O'Donnell!
Down goes O'Donnell!
She can have a slot on The View, anytime.
The slots on The View are old, dusty, unappealing.
That comment is just so wrong. Funny, but sooooooo wrong.
I certainly wouldn't mind seeing her on T.V.
Now she can go back to her Bill Maher gig of playing the world's most clueless foil.
While the left focus on the witch they want to burn the tea party quietly take over congress.
That sentence made my head hurt.

"Choice Fox Timeslot" sounds kinda dirty.
Samantha was hot, I bet her daughter on the show turned into a hotty.
I think she became a crack ho, and who wouldn't, with Dick Sargent as her dad? I'm just looking out for the folks, and gay dads never do the kids any good. And that's a memo.
I'm ok with crack ho chic. Dick Sargent, what an unfortunate name for a gay dude. NTTAWWT
Now, Dick Staff-Sargent...
I guess you missed the (short-lived) spinoff series.
I remember it. She was actually kind of a babe.
The multi-talented Lisa Hartman. I didn't know...
I'm just glad Rubio won.
Well, I'm glad Crist lost.

Florida seems to be waking up. They got rid of Teacups, Alan Grayson. Well done.
I wish Miss O' Donnell great success in whatever endeavor she chooses. She deserves it for taking out that career-centrist douchebag Castle in the primary.
Yep, totally agree. Castle was a blight upon the Republican party and the type of politician who deines exactly why our political system is decrepit.
Plus, as J Corning alluded to upthread, Dems had to burn valuable time and money defeating her, so other candidates are now getting stomped instead.
Win-win.

Her candidacy also siphoned off resources from the Dem attack machine and the Republican est. OTOH, the Karl Roves are going to use her as an example of why running Dem-lite candidates is so important.
Palin didn't go away after the 2008 election; don't be surprised if both the left and the right collude to keep O'Donnell in the spotlight as well, for their own particular reasons. Which is the left likes to ridicule her and the right likes to point out the obsession of the left with ridiculing her, while defending her.
I'd personally like her to disappear, but the TEAM RED TEAM BLUE paradigm has become so epically fucking stupid that this is what they're all about now.
This is also in +1 territory.
BTW, have a John Carpenter flim score mix by Alan Howarth.

There is some really bizarre fixation on decent-looking conservative women from both Dems and Repubs and the media. I'm sure some psych graduate already has a thesis written up on it.
I have a basic working theory. The male TEAM RED contingent goes batty for them because they're attractive, and have their protective instincts raised as well when the left goes after her. The TEAM RED female contingent defends her because she's being attacked, often in a misogynistic way, by TEAM BLUE who are supposed to be feminists.
TEAM BLUE always slavers over a particularly dumb TEAM RED candidate, and then if you make her a woman, they can't help but become misogynistic (just like they will hurl homophobic insults at the drop of a hat), because, well, don't you see how dumb she is? How much of a...dare we say...bimbo?
She becomes the perfect foil for both teams; for TEAM RED, she is the down-home, common woman being savaged by the vicious elitists of the left; and for TEAM BLUE, she is the ultimate punching bag--hypocritical (O'Donnell with sex, Palin with the daughter getting pregnant), gaffe-prone, folksy, and...popular.
It's actually pretty twisted if you think about it, and is a real insight into the mentality that pervades both teams.
TEAM BLUE really loves going for the personal attacks against them too. It's bizarre.
I'm not a Palin or an O'Donnell fan by any means, but the media and Dems just shit all over them without any sort of substantive argument, criticism, or debate. And then, like you said, TEAM RED has a reflexive uber-protective response. No wonder they stay in the media spotlight, it almost mimics the celebrity smearing and worship that tabloids do.
I don't think team blue is being misogynistic, since its collective mindset is inherently feminine. That catty "whoreslut" bullshit just how chicks try to fuck over other chicks.
It also explains why they reserve the bulk of their hate for the hotter ones.
You should get that published, dude.
Another piece of the team blue side is that they like to be able to play the racist or sexist accusation any chance they get. When a conservative true-believer comes along who isn't a white man, they see the immediate threat to this dependable line of attack. If she's a dunce, then team blue sets phazers to DESTROY.
Anyway, I only watch TV for my news, so I was startled to hear that O'Donnell wasn't the only person running for office today. Apparently, there's a whole "midterm election" as it were.
Why would a woman in her late 30s go to a Halloween party with a 25 year old hipster she didn't really know? Especially when she had just run for the Senate and was at least contemplating a further political future?
Whatever the reason, apparently she was not unresponsive
To paraphrase Instapundit: They told me that if I voted for John McCain, single women who went out with men would be shamed as sluts. And they were right!
I'm not trying to shame her. I'm just saying its weird for a very socially conservative woman with a desire for political office to do something so juvenile. And I'm not even stipulating he was telling the truth about the naked no-sex having.
Wherever she inspires young witches, they'll have to alternate between masterbation and mosquerbation.
Not sure what mosqerbation looks like, but sign me up to watch the other class.
Justin Amash: part of Ron Paul's new congressional block. Currently winning with over 60% of the vote.
Read his Q&A in Time Magazine:
Who is your political hero/inspiration?
My biggest heroes are economists like F.A. Hayek and Fr?d?ric Bastiat. Those would be my political inspirations, as well.
What's your go-to political blog?
I don't have a particular go-to political blog. Caf? Hayek is probably the blog I go to the most.

So only 433 to go, then?
And in other news, fuck Crist, hope Murkowski is next.
So, Coons dropped a house on O'Donnell.
Is she smart enough to be a talking head on TV?
Is she smart enough to be a talking head on TV?
Is S.E. Cupp?
I'm confused. This Cupp chick wrote a book about liberals attacking Christianity but is a self-avowed atheist?
Not so hard to understand. She doesn't believe in God, but recognizes the importance of having a moral code and the origins of her own moral code. So many self-avowed atheists are so hateful toward the religious (usually those atheists that resent any kind of restrictions on personal behavior) that is easy to forget that there are atheists that do maintain some respect for others.
Being an atheist does not mean that you have to go along with the anti-religious bigotry of most vocal atheists.
Who are the muppets who voted for her?
