Esquire magazine: "It's Impossible to Dislike Ron Paul"
The August issue of Esquire, with Bill Clinton on the cover, is designated "The Impossible Issue," with lots of articles and epigrams scattered throughout about things that are actually, or seen as, impossible. One of the epigrams, on page 121? "It's Impossible to Dislike Ron Paul." (In the same box of epigrams: "It is impossible to lick your elbow.")
My Reason magazine cover story from February 2008 on Ron Paul.

Rewind Two years ago and he was that bat shit crazy libertarian nut kids on the Internet liked who invaded the Republican party debates and talked anti-war. SILLY OLD MAN YOU DON'T BELONG THERE.
RP is great for the body politic but he can be batshit crazy at the same time.
Come on. Fox News excludes him from a GOP debate while he is polling third among 6-8.
Yet, in 2009 testimony he accuses the Fed of funding Watergate and Saddam Hussein's weapons buildup by Reagan despite the fact that Fed notes are public after 3 years.
He outlasted crazier fuck nemesis Ruby Guiliani though. Give him that.
I'd -1 this. But that would return your counter into the black, shrikie.
Sure. Goldbugs are off their fucking rocker - even Milton F. said that.
RP is just living the the 50's with his nutcase Bircher pals.
If you're defining goldbugs to be people who believe there's a gold conspiracy, or a move to create an Amero or one world currency (actually seeming less crazy by the day)... Then yes.
If you're referring to people who think we should have competing currencies or at least allow people to trade in commodity-backed currencies, then no.
Fuck you shriek Really. Fuck you. With a big stick.
You have nothing. Not even a stick.
Oh look some Shillbama acolytes
How's that Change going for you?
Yes we can't!
I'll take a pound of thin-sliced Hope and Change, please. How's the pastrami?
I love that change! Obama is paying for my mortgage, my car payment, my unemployment, my section 8 ($15/month rent) housing, everything! If I need to adjust for inflation, just have another kid!
Isn't free stuff so great?
You're joking, right? Just like the LA Times loves Tom McClintock...when he has no chance of winning an election or... (cough cough a primary vs. a movie star cough cough)
RP=harmless to the lefty media. Sorry, but thems the facts.
this
It's impossible to compel me to buy an issue of Esquire.
(puts gun to sage's head)
I make a promise to you: either your money for the magazine or your brains are going on the counter.
Epi, are you going to shoot him, or fuck him?
Why does he have to choose?
Of course you can lick your elbow. You just have to break the arm first.
Or get tongue lengthening surgery. This has other uses, too.
Like getting your own "reality" TV show.
I have disliked Ron Paul ever since me giving his campaign $20 nearly three years ago landed me on every mass email list to the right of Karl Marx.
Likewise.
Yeah, advancing the cause of liberty is not worth a little extra junk mail.
Give me liberty or give me...
cancel that.
+47
Advancing the cause of keeping members of the Paul family perpetually employed isn't worth getting crap email, especially after telling them that you don't want any.
I like Steve Martin's version of the song best. Lines like, "It's impossible...to drive a Cadillac up your nose, it's just impossible."
Nobody doesn't like me.
There's not another politican on earth who could have viciously racist newsletter published under his name for ten years come to light and still be a respected if marginal figure on the national stage. He seems like a boring old fanatic to me, but he must have something.
Um...Barack Obama, maybe? (Or were you not aware that he attended a Jew/Whitey-bashing church for several years, had the cases of "cracker-hating" "New" Black Panthers who intimidated white voters dropped -- according to the FUCKING ATTORNEY WHO WANTED TO PROSECUTE THE CASE AND WHO LATER RESIGNED BECAUSE OF IT -- etc., etc., etc.?)
And puhleeeeeeeeeaaaaaase quit with the "Ron Paul done published teh racist things" crap, will ya?!
Don't worry, the major news media have pretty much ignored the racist newsletters. I wonder why.
Max, why can't you get it into your head that we are not electing Ron Paul to run the NAACP. We just want a little more liberty, and he is the best vehicle we've found to reach that end. When Gandhi mates with Mother Theresa and has a child named Thomas Jefferson Theresa Gandhi call back. Until then it's Ron Paul.
Gee, Toda, I don't think most libertarians agree with you. Isn't racism supposed to be the most primitive form of collectivism?
Yes, it is, I suppose... which is another reason REAL racists need to be derided at every opportunity.
Like, for instance, the NBPP and white-supremacy groups, both of whom are equally evil.
Still going on about the newsletter non-issue, Max?
But why is it a non-issue, LG?
Because it is. Ron Paul is not a racist, despite your persistent bleatings to the contrary.
Didn't you promise to NOT post here, you lying sack of fuck?
Unless you're a neocon, who thinks anyone who criticizes the invasion and occupation of a country that didn't threaten us, in contravention of the US Constitution, and international law, and centuries of precedent, has a "blame America first" mentality.
this is why i stopped reading reason last year. back to not reading it again.
Of course it's possible to lick your elbow, I just need your permission (and you need to wash your elbow).
Unless you think playing footsie with Truthers is bad
Wasn't Van Jones a Truther?
Criticizing Van Jones is racist, LG.
Breathing is also racist, LG. Stop it.
Is Lee Hamilton a truther?
RON PAUL IN 2012 OR SOONER. IF MOST OF YOU THAT BASH HIM WOULD LEARN WHAT HE REALLY STANDS FOR YOU MORE THAN LIKELY WOULD SUPPORT HIM. BE SURE TO LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS INSTEAD OF WHAT IS SAID ABOUT HIM BY THOSE HE SEEKS TO PUT IN THE SUNSHINE AND THE WITNESS BOX. I SUGGEST YOU WATCH WHAT HE SAID IN THE 2008 DEBATE, AFTER THAT YOU MAY JUST MAKE A DAY OF LISTENING TO HIM. YOUTUBE SEARCH: RON PAUL
