David Brooks, on Obama and the Deficit: "If he had some support, he'd do the right thing"
Plenty more howlers at the link.
More on the NYT con's presidential enthusiasms here, here, and (especially) at The New Republic.

If he had some support, he'd do the right thing.
I'll lend him some, if Brooks isn't putting me on.
Matt -- please quit calling this fucker a conservative. That, or provide some evidence that he actually is one.
On The NewsHour he represents the conservative in the traditional MSM dichotomy of liberal/conservative to the liberal Mark Shields. The NewsHour is a government organization so he is officially certified as a conservative. Who ever officially authorized William Buckley? Oh, wait, the CIA. Never mind, he had the government stamp of approval, too. Especially when he wrote in the early fifties that the Right needs to accept central planning of the economy if we have any chance of competing with the Communist menace. So, actually, whether we like it or not, Brooks doesn't stretch any bounds of that tradition (probably has something to do with why Hayek insisted he wasn't a conservative) in spite of the fact he is barely distinguishable from your typical love struck Obamanick.
BTW, what was the name of the magazine that was later to be found to be backed by CIA funding to affect political opinion? Ramparts, was it? I recall finding a stack of them in my old school's library and reading through some issues. Actually, it was pretty good stuff for propaganda.
The NewsHour is not a government organization. It is produced by a TV station that receives a small part of its operating government from the feds, some from its state govt, but most from private foundations and corporations, and individual donors.
And to be honest, the anti-Obama POV gets a lot fairer representation on PBS news shows than it does on any of the fully-private networks other than FoxNews.

I was very well of all of those facts before I breached this controversial subject matter. If you notice the term 'government organization' still fits the definition (government based, government backed), and that is why I used vague wording instead of more precise usage because it is my M.O. to avoid pedantic correction in the first place. Christ, give me some fucking credit.

CNN must really stink to high heaven at this point in time, as I've noticed a bias trend of late. I suspect an increase in Judy's pull in the production process is the likely culprit. I always think of a Don Henly tune when I see her read news of the left's political successes like there is a 'gleam in her eye', and old blue haired Al is going to get some later in the evening.
I'll stick around for the news reporting but avoid those round table discussions or Judy or Glen doing one on ones.
Al Hunt's hair is not really blue. The blue that most senior citizens are accused of having is actually a silvery sheen caused by lighter hair scattering light before they reach thicker hair. Hunt's hair has very little sheen and is pretty much a solid mass of white.
"God put you on this earth to manipulate voters for the good of the country.
What. The. Fuck...!?
That whole article reads kind of like the ravings of a madman.
President Obama was smart
Gay.
You know, maybe what Brooks says is true, that Obama would take on profligate spending if he got some backing. But to suggest that Obama has "fought against powerful political pressure for a series of mechanisms, which, though riven with loopholes, at least have the potential to control spending..." is such utter and complete bullshit that it defies reality. I had to go drop a rook from a chess set just to see if gravity was still working after reading that.
Brooks has gone bonkers.
If pigs had wings, they'd be eagles.
EAGLES THAT WOULD EAT YOUR LIVERS!
Flappy, you know that eagles are already quite capable of eating human livers, if they can keep the human down long enough.
Sadly, the inevitable effect of crossing pigs with eagles would create a large bird that tastes like bacon -- thus ensuring its extinction.
Tell me about it! Though they usually go for the soft materials, eyes lips, cocks, and such before they delve into the sinewy muscles under your flesh to get to the organs.
Don't be such a pussy. Hell, I endured centuries of having my liver ripped out while chained to a crag. Just for giving man the gift of fire.
Ingrates.
When you can punish as much as you have been punished then you can call Conan a pussy.
If your aunt had balls, she wouldn't sit like that.
Obama hasn't been recklessly brave on this issue, but he's fought against powerful political pressure for a series of mechanisms, which, though riven with loopholes, at least have the potential to control spending
So does self control. HEY! BILLY MAYS SPEAKING FROM THE GRAVE HERE! TALKING ABOUT THE NOT-SO-NEW AND NOT-NEEDING-TO-BE-IMPROVED SELF CONTROL! IT COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, IN FACT IT WILL SAVE!! YOU!! MONEY!! AND IF YOU ACT NOW, YOU MAY EVEN SAVE YOUR DEAR REPUBLIC. HURRY, BEFORE IT'S GONE!
Before you mutilate your David Brooks voodoo dolls irreparably, note the publish date and hope he has a sense of humor.
Good call.
Too late. I truly despise that douchebag.
Umm, no. David Brooks is A Fool For All Seasons.
hope he has a sense of humor.
Fantasist.
I usually go to the bondage-themed strip club for the buffet.
Isn't this the idiot who keeps lamenting the death of statemanship?
I agree with the general sentiment; Brooks may be starting to lose his mind.
If somebody doesn't hold an intervention or something, he might start writing about Trig Palin before too long.
It seems too non-over-the-top, non-Onionish to be an April Fools prank.
This asshat actually seems to believe this rubbish.
I think Brooks is still mesmerized by that crease in Obama's pants.
