All Things Cut Up
A SubGenius who calls himself F. Le Mur -- possibly but not necessarily the same F. Le Mur who occasionally comments here at Hit & Run -- remixes NPR.

Better than the actual NPR.
NPR would be much better if it got $0 in federal funding.
Well, maybe it would still suck, but at least not on our dime.
Maybe?
I was feeling generous when I typed that.
What specifically do you think sucks about it?
tater
It'd be easier to ask what doesn't suck. They have some interesting science guests on various shows. Of course they politicize the shit out of global warming, which kind of shoots that lil' bit of not horrid airtime in the ass.
Generous like Santa!
What's funny is when they try to have it both ways. In one segment they will boast of how little of their budget comes from the taxpayer, and in the next they will tout how independant they are as a result of being non-commercial. Not counting all the commercials and the taxpayer funding, they are almost completely non-commercial and non-taxpayer funded. But, we should reconsider the fariness doctrine because something seems to put commercial liberal radio at a disadvantage. No idea what that could possibly be...
I have to confess that I do listen sometimes. I make up for it by not doing business with their advertisers. Except for ADM. Even God buys from ADM.

Funny link ... thanks, Jesse!
Seconded. Very funny.
Happy Valentine's Day reason!
Happy Valentines Day Suki!
Hi PIRS!
Get a room, already!
"You know how dumb the average person is? Well, by definition, half of 'em are even dumber than THAT."
Thus Spoke "Bob".
A long-lost friend told me this one years ago and I actually believed it for a few years... then I thought about the area under the bell curve and realized that, no, the distribution doesn't work like that.
I think I still agree with the sentiment though.
"Violators spend up to ten years in Washington."
OK. That was all right.
"washing cocks in washington" bwahaha
"the senate has voted to rape a child on a vote of 98 to nothing"
What is this subgenius thing?
"For fools rush in where angels fear to tread..."
It's Jesse calling you a retard. Which, honestly, is warranted.
Oh, I thought it was some weird counter-culture group.
Way ahead of the pack mainstream.
Well, I suppose that's what a retard would think.
Read and become enlightened.
It's what happens to really smart people who realize how absolutely fucked the world is - they retreat into a world of sarcasm and absurdity to shelter their fragile minds from the donkey show of reality.
"A woman is nursing three pregnant women who were pulled from the mud in Washington"
"From PR news in Washington, I'm a theory, not a fact."
God if I were drunk I would literally die laughing.
I'm still hungover from last night. I thing I'm going to puke laughing.
It was cute for a minute but it really is stupid after that.
Well, to each his own, but I thought it got funnier after a while. I think the Wall Street bit is particularly brilliant: "And on Wall Street, twelve, nine, seventeen, two thousand eleven, twenty-five and twenty-six."
You know, I've got the Olympics on and we were snickering at one of the sports anchors because the guy looks like he either drinks botox like water or someone was behind him pulling his face tight. This Bob Costas guy is 57 fucking years old. And well preserved.
He is also a 3' 2" adult male. More like a garden gnome.
It sucks. Not even a "nice try". Just straight up sucks. Not funny.
try the ECC "Rocked By Rape" much better.
Check the link(at Jesse's link) to Evolution Control Committee's "Rocked By Rape".It is an AC/DC track set to samples of Dan Rather when he still did the CBS news.Brilliant, scary and totally hilarious, a keeper that is going on my iPod in heavy rotation. The other stuff wasn't nearly as good but it was enjoyable.
I really doubt that was the Flemur who used to comment here but I'd like to think that it was.
I
"You said rape twice."
"I like collages."
The coolest news event all weekend has got to be the many cultural angles on the tragedy of the totally psycho Harvard PhD mother of 4 scientist broad who shot all her colleagues at U of Alabama-Huntsville. She murdered her own brother 24 years ago and the DA who covered it up is now a US Congressman from MA.
This story has lead to some of the most bizarre and amusing online newspaper, forum, and blog comments I have ever seen in the entire history of the intarwebs. Lefty failed-tenure PhD women think she was partially justified in killing for being denied tenure.Southern RightWingers are demanding the right to protect themselves with guns from psycho socialist Harvard PhD killers who escaped justice in Massachusetts. Totally Fucking Awesome !!!*
*My condolences to the families of victims of this tragedy.
If there was a Lifetime channel for men, this would make a helluva docudrama for it.
There is. It's called SPIKE TV
A new episode of 1000 Ways to Die?
From the NYT article:
I'd be willing to bet that Bishop was bitching in a feminist way that too many women were having a hard time getting through Ch.Eng. because of all the math that the Ch.Eng. profs were requiring their students to know and being denied tenure just confirmed her belief that the University had it in for women. Not that the NYT would ever report that.
Ah yes, the liberal belief that if people are more emotional and gush their feelings all over everyone else then somehow they can't have any problems.
"Dr. Bishop became convinced ... that the chemical engineering professors were trying to keep biology students from succeeding by making the classes too difficult."
Classic. Those awful profs probably made the poor little biology students learn the reynolds number and everything!
Don't women always bitch in a feminist way. Like I told my wife when she was arguing politics with me while we were dating: "We should have never let you women learn how to read."
Don't tell my wife I said that.
Harvard educated Yankee "intellectual" mass killer from Mass tried to mail bomb her doctoral professor Beat the rap on that just like she did for murdering her own brother.
If male feminists were the ones who let her get over on it they probably found her hot.
Your experience may differ.
APB: BOLO for an sexist male who posts on Reason.com AKA Mr Simple. (You should be safe cause that description would represent 99% of the posters.)
Suddenly it all makes sense!
Dawkins has it all backwards.
If anyone is reading this on a Sunday morning, check this out.
The academic at the centre of the 'Climategate' affair, whose raw data is crucial to the theory of climate change, has admitted that he has trouble 'keeping track' of the information.
Colleagues say that the reason Professor Phil Jones has refused Freedom of Information requests is that he may have actually lost the relevant papers.
Professor Jones told the BBC yesterday there was truth in the observations of colleagues that he lacked organisational skills, that his office was swamped with piles of paper and that his record keeping is 'not as good as it should be'.
The data is crucial to the famous 'hockey stick graph' used by climate change advocates to support the theory.
Professor Jones also conceded the possibility that the world was warmer in medieval times than now ? suggesting global warming may not be a man-made phenomenon.
And he said that for the past 15 years there has been no 'statistically significant'

I think it just means they found another pretend crisis to scare people with.
General Motors Co. Vice Chairman Bob Lutz on Friday said the auto maker will probably always lose money on hybrid vehicles, which he expects will never comprise more than 10% of the U.S. auto market.
Money lost on hybrids, which are required under new, stricter U.S. fuel-economy regulations, will force GM to increase the cost of other vehicles, Lutz said.
"GM will lose money on hybrids," he said, speaking at an industry event in Orlando. "We will continue to build them--they are required by (Corporate Average Fuel Economy regulations)--and the cost will be spread across other cars."
WSJ
General Motors Co. Vice Chairman Bob Lutz in Florida Friday said GM's top 25 executives are a sorely underpaid lot.
"What you see is what you get, and it ain't a lot," Lutz told The Detroit News in Orlando, Fla., where industry leaders are gathering for the annual National Automobile Dealers Association convention.
"Given the rigors of the job and demands and the accountability, I would say we are being paid way, way, way below market," Lutz said.

Gosh Bob, that's a fucking shame. A goddam tragedy, it is.
Maybe if they had gone into bankruptcy rather than sucking on the government tit, they would have the freedom to pay the going rate.
Jamie McMurray won the Daytona 500 in a Chevy today.
A sad, sad day in racing.
Isn't every day a sad dad in racing? Aren't their trailer homes always burning down, pick-up trucks being repossessed and their huntin' dog has run off.

Tom Stoppard was doing that in 1966.
You mean "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead"? The great think about William Shakespeare is that all his works are in Public Domain and pretty much everyone knows this. You can get away with it with Shakespeare plays.
I should have said "a great thing" or "one great thing". There are many, many great things about The Bard.
Yeah, that was my specific reference. BTW, there was an indy film last year named Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead. Stoppard encouraged the writer. Turns out during Hamlet, Horatio was a 2000 year old Vampire and he and Hamlet (who he turns) are fighting to this day.
"I've come to realize I've already had Monica Lewinski in a strip mall"
Killer edit.
Speaking of killing:
"Many of the people killed say they may not have survived"
It's like having Joe Biden do NPR reports!
Wasn't Le Mur the alias Sawyer used at the Dharma compound? Is this some kind of clue? I think that it is.
I don't need to tell you that F. Le Mur is an anagram for elf rum. That suggests to me that the island isn't purgatory as all of you think, but in fact exists somewhere off the wagon in Middle-earth. (I can't believe I missed a huge clue to this earlier: Charlie.)
no, Sawyer was LeFleur.
Sounds like Negativeland.
The UAH Psycho-Killer Harvard educated PhD not only got away with murdering her own brother it looks like she sent mail bombs one of her professors at Harvard.
Thank Jesus that down here in Alabama we know how to handle these violent socialist Ivy-League Yankee PhD carpet baggers from the Fake America.I see a lethal IV in her furure.
I predict resistance to allowing campus concealed carry crumbles 'cause of the crazy killer cunt.
Not bad, but I still prefer Cassetteboy.
I don't claim to have total knowledge of every thread around here, but it seems like it's been years since I've seen F. Le Mur post on Hit & Run.
