A Brazilian politician who fronts a popular television crime show is being investigated for allegedly ordering a series of executions in a bid to boost his ratings.
Wallace Souza, a former police officer who used his lunchtime television slot to rail against the violence sweeping the jungle city of Manaus, is suspected of commissioning at least five murders to prove his claim that the region is awash with violent crime.
Nearly 20 people have been arrested in the case so far. Souza claims it's all a frame-up.

People have always said it was a prophetic movie. After this they're not as wrong as they were before, I guess.

As in Keith Olbermann's crusade to destroy whatever credibility MSNBC might once have had?
He's mad as hell! Really, he's crazy!

I keep waiting for the radicals to come in and machine gun Olbermann down on national TV. That might be the only way to save the show's ratings. I know I would be watching.
It would be the network's finest hour, John.
Hopefully Mr. Maddow would catch some of the ricochets.
Yo! Balko's getting scooped!
See the offending blog here.
Wallace Souza: Irony-Free since...well, at least since he pulled this hit squad massacre.
I might as well say that I'm not going to shed any tears for an idiot who posts names, photos, and addresses (complete with picture of the house) of undercover officers on her blog. Though I fully expect the "fuck the police, yo" contingent to arrive shortly and politely accuse me of sucking cop cock or some such.

Can it happen on November 5th, to give us a closer tie to England?
No matter how you feel about Olbermann and Maddow, eliminationist rhetoric ain't very cool, folks.
Whoever said crime doesn't pay? Now he will be more popular than ever (in the media).
There is a term for a politician ordering people killed to boost ratings - it is called war.
Apparently the people killed were rival drug distributors. So this guy had his rivals killed (so he could make more money) and had a show about crime in the city (also to make money).
I bet he is the type of person that is in to using every part of a slaughtered animal.,
"commissioning at least five murders to prove his claim that the region is awash with violent crime."
Sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
"I bet he is the type of person that is in to using every part of a slaughtered animal.,"
He is the type of person we call politician.
He had to maintain his 300,000 plus dollar a year lifestyle.
*the WaPo link is proof stupid goes all the way to the top of society
Hmm $300,000 link no worky. But this one worky.
What conclusion do you think we're supposed to draw from this strange story? Why did Jesse Walker bother to post it? Here's a hint:
Propaganda pimp Jesse Walker uses such stories about bad politicianin the way racists (Ron Pual, for example) might use stories about black criminals.
I do not know who this Ron Pual person is but the far more famous Ron Paul is certainly not a racist.
holy cow!! There are black criminals?
it probably gets little coverage because the woman is a bit of a whackjob racist. Not that such beliefs make her treatment rihgt
William/Lefiti: You're right! I posted this to trick readers into thinking all politicians secretly arrange to have people rubbed out to boost their TV shows' ratings! Curse you for exposing my hidden agenda!
Well we all know one politician is trying to rub out granny.
*that just doesn't sound right.
hmmm,
Unless your into that sort of thing. NTTAWWT.

Will do...
In the Nielsen ratings it was listed as the fourth-highest-rated show of the month, surpassed only by "The Six Million Dollar Man", "All in the Family" and "Phyllis" - a phenomenal state of affairs for a news show.
Eu sou t?o louco como o inferno e eu n?o vou tom?-la mais.
That's a literal translation, but a more realistic one would be something like this:
Estou puta da vida, e n?o vou auguentar isso mais!!
"Foul pest! And by the way the name's Herman. And I hate musicals!" -signed, the Planet Smasher.
Bullcrap. I don't think you really give a shit.

You're right. I want Olbermann and Maddow and Matthews and Schultz dead, but in a smart, hip way that appeals to the kids out there. You know, death with a wink and a nod, not that mean conservative fascist racist gun-toting birther tea-bagger kind of death.

Brought to you courtesy of Google Translate, of course. Nice to know that they are as lame in Portuguese as in languages I have studied, e.g., Spanish and German.
Seriously, thanks for the more idiomatic translation, and even for noticing what I was trying to do there... 🙂
