Reason Morning Links: Economy's Hollow Recovery, President Micromanager, Santorum in 2012?
- President Obama, the micromanager.
- DHS Sec. Janet Napolitano says no immigration reform needed, just more enforcement.
- Newly released emails show Karl Rove, other senior Bush officials played active role in U.S. attorney firings.
- Economy rebounding, but may be "a recovery only a statistician could love."
- And the GOP's savior in 2012 will be . . . Rick Santorum?

Re: Santorum
I present one of H&R's greatest threads evar.
And the police tazed a grandpa driving in the town parade in Wyoming: Link
I also think this is the link Balko meant to post about Rick.
Is everyone else as shocked as I am?*
*I know sarcasm doesn't always translate on the 'nets.
I remember that thread. In it, I predicted that Santorum's son (the one with the thousand-yard stare) would grow up to be the libertarian messiah.
I stand by that prediction.

-"Even if the movie is saying, 'Look, let us deal with the nuances of disaffected youth raping zombie women,' the posters are going, 'SEXY!'"
Lawyers got fired? Voter fraud goes unchallenged? Yawn.
Santorum, however? That frightens me.
Obama sure seems to lack administrative sense. Trust your people, dude, or get new people! It's a big, friggin' government, and you ain't even remotely qualified to make decisions in most, if any, of the fields in question. That's not what presidents do, man!
SugarFree,
I saw that bit from Cracked.com. Nice.
? And the GOP's savior in 2012 will be . . . Rick Santorum?
If this is true it's yet more proof that the GOP needs to finish dying in a fire. Fuck Rick Santorum, yo.
WTF? Either it's great that you've outdone Bush on arresting illegals, or it's not. Whichever, just fuck off and die, Napolitano.
Thanks, FrBunny, for reminding us of the "Julian Sanchez is an asshole" thread. Screw Santorum, in whichever orifice is most painful for him to get rapes, but leave his fucking kids alone.
My biggest regret is that I was still only a lurker during the Santorum thread. Hamtears Girl and Shit-Himself Kid is still one of my favorite threads.
So I'm an asshole for laughing at that photo? Damn.
Sugarfree,
Thanks for those excerpts. It's a shame those sites are filtered on this 'puter.
His aides say Mr. Obama insists presentations be crisp.
Crisp: easily breakable.
It's a shame those sites are filtered on this 'puter.
Two feminism sites and a humor site are filtered, but you can come to this den of inequity and anti-government rabble-rousing?
I alone make this whole place NC-17.
The girl I feel sorry for, though I still want to know why she was weeping. Not like they were moving (he was taking a law firm gig in DC, I believe) or would have less money. I figure she got yelled at.
The boy, on the other hand, is creepy. Look at him in that photo. I can hear what he was thinking at the time: "Saigon. Shit. I'm still in Saigon."
Boy, the left is frothing at the mouth for someone like Santorum to run.
Yes, we shouldn't make fun of his kids. Or any other political props used for cynical purposes.
Newly released emails show Karl Rove, other senior Bush officials played active role in U.S. attorney firings.
My God. The Bush administration was involved in firing (or, more accurately for some, not renewing the appointements of) US Attorneys that serve at the pleasure of the President? The depravity!
SF, that Deadgirl movie sounds like the inevitable sequel to Stand By Me. Eyeball Chambers would totally fuck a dead chick.
😀 Classic, Pro Lib.
I know, right? Someone somewhere in the gummint must have a soft spot for Reason. Either that, or they go in for Radley's articles.
I gotta admit the cynicism of the politics involved was disheartening (or eye-opening?)
sage,
Was the use of the word "frothing" intentional?
Voltaire's song "Dead Girls" has to factor into Deadgirl somehow, then.
We'll likely end up with some injustices against legitimately innocent men, but if that's what it takes to punch the last bits of harassment from the work world, so be it.
I like omelettes.
Good Obamacare op-ed by John Mackey at WSJ
the inevitable sequel to Stand By Me
As long as they do another leeches! scene. Warty wore out his VHS rewinding that part in a loop.
Has there ever been a combine harvester scene in a zombie movie? I can't think of one.
off topic, but amusing:
Camile Paglia writes a scorching analysis of Obama's fuck-ups on health care over at Salon; then the local crazies foam at the mouth in the comments.
My God. The Bush administration was involved in firing (or, more accurately for some, not renewing the appointements of) US Attorneys that serve at the pleasure of the President? The depravity!
If Rove was involved, then a number of people perjured themselves to the Congress.
If Rove was involved, then a number of people perjured themselves to the Congress.
Most likely needlessly, which is the dumbest aspect of the whole affair. Oh Noes! We can't let the people know that Karl Rove actually has power in the White House!
Was the use of the word "frothing" intentional?
But of course. I had to fit it in there somehow. I'm surprised I was first.
And we love ya for it.
Aw, I didn't know you cared, J sub D. [blush]
I forgot a morning link. I sent this in to the Feministing tip line.
Newly released emails show Karl Rove, other senior Bush officials played active role in U.S. attorney firings.
Is the next revelation going to be the staff also performed other normal staff functions?
"Cuntzilla Paglia is under the delusion that she
Is one of the straight boys. No, Camille, you are not. You are a self-hater with a platform, and you do damage. I cannot tell you how much I personally detest you, you animated piece of garbage."
"I would say this to Kristol as well - Palin is not gonna do you, Paglia, stop trying to get into her panties, m'kay?..."
Salon people are so angry....
Feministing has a tip line? I'd love a contest to see who can get the most stories put up on there in a month, with bonus points for most outrageous/unlikely. A guaranteed winner would be something like "Study: Butch lesbians more likely to engage in cannibalism".
Grr. I know some of my favorite writers are socialists, but do they have to boot lick quite so much?

Has there ever been a combine harvester scene in a zombie movie? I can't think of one.
I remember ag machinery in Let Sleeping Corpes Lie.
The film begins with George (Ray Lovelock) on a trip from his Antique shop in Manchester to the Lake District to work on a new house with some of his friends. On the way his Norton motorcycle is accidentally damaged by Edna (Cristina Galbo) while reversing her Mini Cooper at a petrol station. He persuades her to give him a lift to his destination. Edna is on her way to visit her troubled sister. This unlikely pairing then enter a desperate situation where an agricultural machine designed to kill insects and act as an ultrasonic pesticide has caused the dead to rise and roam about.
Close but not quite.....
Ah, google:

Anyone know of a good website that shows a person how to do strike through, italics, links, etc.? Thanks!
"I forgot a morning link. I sent this in to the Feministing tip line."
My girlfriend was prescribed Ambien on Monday. Thanks for the link.
Das Leben, you can learn everything you'll ever need here.
SIV,
That movie has a dizzying array of alternate titles. "Ultrasonic pesticide." Gold.
Grr. I know some of my favorite writers are socialists, but do they have to boot lick quite so much?
Blech. Boot licking Klugman? Fuuuuuck.....
That's odd about Stross. I typically picked up a semi-libertarian vibe form his stuff. His characters don't have a great deal of faith in the gummint and he seemed to relay the message that the world isn't so simple that you can have a masters of the universe...er...universe.
I guess that's why he's writing fiction. He doesn't even believe in it.
Going from memory there is a combine in LSCL but it is just a background scene to put the bug killer machine in context. No Zombie mowing though.
FrBunny is quite evil, I see. 😀
Really evil would have been to TinyURL it. At least I gave him a chance...
Hmmmm...must slip wife ambien in her oatmeal....
Ambien Sex !!!!
LOL
God I hope feministing picks that up.
If Rove was involved, then a number of people perjured themselves to the Congress.
Entirely possible (the perjury, of course). And for no good reason, as noted above.
Still, what I picked up from the news was that Rove forwarded complaints sent to him by various Repubs about the guy in NM wasn't actually fired, just non-renewed. If that counts as "involvement," its pretty tame.
The discontent between personal freedoms and economic freedoms is one I can hardly understand. "You can do anything you want with your body except keep the monetary value of its labor" is not a consistent viewpoint.
"Now is the winter of my disconnect."
Noooo! Stupid sausage fingers.
"Has there ever been a combine harvester scene in a zombie movie? I can't think of one."
I recall a zombie film where a guy fended them off with a lawnmower. It was awesome!
"Das Leben, you can learn everything you'll ever need here."
Blocked by surf control. Says it's sexually explicit.
It's okay; I misquoted. Should've been "our", not "my."
Blocked by surf control.
That's odd. You should send the link to your IT department and insist that the site be unblocked. CC your supervisor too, just to make sure it gets the attention it deserves.
OK, don't actually do that. I've reached my limit of nefariousness.
You don't do evil well, Bunny.
"I recall a zombie film where a guy fended them off with a lawnmower. It was awesome!"
Night of the Creeps. Great flick.

Kinda scary you can be sent to jail for public information. Even if she was persistent, it looks like these officers don't like being in the light.
I should add she is far from not being a nutjob, but nutjobs have rights too.
ahh.. what's better than movies about necrophilia?
when feminists sound like republicans.
hmm
agreed on the having rights too part. it's just so disappointing that she happens to be crackpot! bad press for liberty.
Why is protecting the rights of people you disagree or even despise with bad for liberty? I'd argue it is just the opposite. You often here that freedom of speech is designed to protect the speech you find most reprehensible, because that is the speech that needs protecting. People fall in the same category.
hmm,
i could not agree more.
my point was the fact that she is a crackpot who is acting in the defense of liberty, many people who are automatically turned off by those who talk about racial separatism, will associate her other causes (exposing the thug cops) with "racism" or just discount her entirely. further it gives detractors to her effort an issue to discredit her with in the public eye.
that's all i meant by "bad press."
