"Suffering Under Capitalism" to Be Replaced By New, Better Type of Suffering

|

According to the Southtown Star, a local Illinois newspaper owned by the Chicago Sun-Times, Hizb-ut-Tahrir, a radical Islamist group exposed in Ed Husein's recent memoir The Islamist, is coming to a the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn for a conference dedicated not the elimination of "Jewish power" or the restoration of the Muslim caliphate (though I suspect these pressing concerns will be addressed), but to declare the end of capitalism:

Although the group dismisses democracy—the theme of Sunday's conference is the "Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Islam"—they hope to elect one Muslim worldwide ruler, or caliph, and hold that person accountable.

The conference, widely believed to be the first of its kind in America, includes lectures titled "The Suffering Under Capitalism" and "Ownership and Distribution of Wealth in Islam."

Checkout the impressive production values of this Hizb America video promoting the event. It features all the typical b-roll of American decadence—money, divorce, lack of beards—plus a shot of the classic Dead Kennedy's album "Plastic Surgery Disasters":

For those wishing to celebrate the "fall of capitalism" with a ballroom full of lunatics, show up at the Hilton Hotel in Oak Lawn, Illinois between 11AM and 5 PM this Sunday!

  1. will drinks be served?

  2. There should have been a disclaimer in the video: NOTE: This video’s awesome production values brought to you by Capitalism.

    It’s simple, kids:

Capitalist videos = a massive library of ominous music from which to choose, very little beheadings.

Islamic videos = crappy music and someone usually gets beheaded.

  3. I think that was directed by McG.

It’s terribly amusing how much wishful thinking goes on in the heads of Islamic fanatic retards.

  4. they hope to elect one Muslim worldwide ruler, or caliph, and hold that person accountable

    Will s/he have a choice?

  5. The video montage of American capitalist corruption includes an image of a ‘divorce decree.

This requires some context. Your hard-core Muslim doesn’t object to divorce *per se.* Sharia is generally held to require that a husband can divorce any of his wives by repeating the phrase ‘I divorce you’ three times. The wife has no right to divorce.

Thus, the implied criticism of American divorce law is twofold:

    (a) Wives get divorces as well as men,

    (b) Men need judicial approval to get a divorce.

  6. …plus a shot of the classic Dead [Kennedys] album “Plastic Surgery Disasters”…

I’m surprised that they wouldn’t have gone for this album, instead.

  7. Looks like Reason.tv could learn a thing or two from these folks on the video front.

  8. Was their tract poorly xeroxed?

  9. You’d better believe it!

  10. What could go wrong?

  11. When I have a hankerin’ for anti-capitalist propaganda, I need go no further than my cable TV. MSNBC after 5 P.M. Eastern is the statist’s Mecca. In their subservience to Democrat ideology, they are doing more to bring about “the end of capitalism” than any bearded towel-head.

  12. Funny. I thought they would’ve posted that on the Islamic version of YouTube. Oh, wait…

  13. Needs more cowbell.

    Wait.

Make that needs more lalalalalala BOOM!

I wonder if you have to check your suicide vest at the door.

  14. ‘I’m surprised that they wouldn’t have gone for this album, instead.’

They should have chosen classical music with a specifically Islamic theme, such as Mikhail Mikhaylovich Ippolitov-Ivanov’s Turkish Fragments.

  15. Hey, I have a beard, and I can send those guys a link to my xtube profile to prove it.

  16. I have a beard. To poop on.

  17. I love the shot of the C-130 doing Angel Wings, the purpose of which is to prevent heat seeking missiles from hitting the aircraft.

  18. A dingle-beard, so to speak?

Hey, I have a beard, and I can send those guys a link to my xtube profile to prove it.

    I wouldn’t advise doing that.

  20. The motion design is pretty decently done. However, the whole production smacks of some 18 year old kid with a pirated copy of Adobe After Effects and a link to Video Copilot in his bookmarks.

No doubt, if you were to point out the hypocrisy of their use of software, computers, music, fonts, and stock images that would all be unavailable without free market capitalism, the retort would be something about using the tools of the running dog capitalist pigs against them.

Of course, the sad irony in turning their tools around against them would probably involve coercing some poor entrepreneur to walk into that hotel ballroom with a suicide bomb* strapped to his chest.

*For those in the employ of Big Brother, this is meant to be neither a call to action, or a plan on the part of myself or anyone else that I know. But rather an ironic commentary on the sad state of the mentality of many adherents of Islam in the 21st century.

  21. I’m guessing there won’t be an open bar…

(Although Madrassa Lawyers might point out that the Koran only bans alcohol made from grain or grape, so mead is OK.)

  22. So if 50 million Muslims wanted to immigrate to the US, would Reason be for it?

  23. So if 50 million Muslims wanted to immigrate to the US, would Reason be for it?

Probably – just so long as they’re willing to work cheaper than Mexicans.

  24. Speaking as a liberal-immigration advocate, I don’t understand qwerty’s question. Would reason be for it? What does that mean?

  25. So you do know that, even though Hizb-ut Tahrir is Islamist, it is explicitly pacifist in how it wants to bring about the Caliphate? That is, even though they are anti-capitalists, they are not, as Moynihan implied, violent in any way, and have even taken great pains to disavow and reject any violence in the name of Islam.

Not to defend them (seriously). But at least portray what they are honestly.

  26. By the way Hizb-ut Tahrir means “Freedom (or Liberation or Emancipation) Party” in Arabic.
    Anyone else think that’s funny?

  27. how the hell are they going to get a caliphate going in the US when they have dozens of muslim majority countries and it hasn’t happened in several centuries!
while they are unified by their hatred for the west, they’re still a bunch of tribals who hate each other more.
the whole an enemy of my enemy is my friend thing can only take you so far.

  28. nice post….

  29. Cool, I never thought I’d see my hometown referenced in this blog. It’s even more surprising to see it come up about something other than our corrupt-even-by-Illinois-standards government.

  30. The video has all the earmarks of an Al Jazeera studio production. All of the promos coming out of Qatar look pretty much just like this in tone and style.

Notice that the venue update was a grey tack-on. They probably couldn’t afford to replace a couple hundred frames at the original production costs.

  31. they hope to elect one Muslim worldwide ruler, or caliph, and hold that person accountable

One worldwide ruler? Don’t you see they’re in cahoots with the Illuminati, The Bilderburgs, The Trilateral Commission and the NAFTA Superhighway?

  32. Oh, I forgot to mention the reptilian human-alien hybrids that live at the Earth’s core.

  33. And Dr. Doom, if he converts to t3h Islam.

  34. I actually live pretty close to there and was considering going to it to check in on these people.

  35. Mark E,

    Do you have a beard?

  36. If someone goes, can they PLEASE try to get their hands on a full body, “Porky The Pig” costume? Hang a sign around your neck that reads “capitalist pig”…. nobody there will mess with you then 🙂

  37. or…you can bring a hotdog cart and give out free weiners: “Hotdogs for Hamas”…what, they’re FREE (no capitalism here)

  38. So you do know that, even though Hizb-ut Tahrir is Islamist, it is explicitly pacifist in how it wants to bring about the Caliphate? ….. But at least portray what they are honestly.

Relax. Islam already portrays itself just fine.

All of us who read history know that Islam is in fact really an incredibly peaceful and enlightened religion and it’s good shit. There’s just a few bad apples that have given them a bum rap, too bad for that.

  39. So if 50 million Muslims wanted to immigrate to the US, would Reason be for it?

Sure. And it doesn’t matter if they work cheaper than Mexicans or not, because the only question is “Can they get here?”. If so, the borders are wide open. Or should be, they tell us.

This many Muslims would undoubtedly contribute to the more rapid demise of The State, which is an unqualified good to anarchists everywhere. Bring on those immigrants, the more the merrier.

What could go wrong? “Order” will spontaneously spring up of its own accord, once The State has fallen. These Muslims would be more than happy to do the springing.

And in that time, TAO still won’t understand.

  40. Most groups with sizable appeal to poor people hate on capitalism and the successful “capitalist” nations. It’s a natural human jealousy thing I guess, but a bit ironic since a poor person in these awful capitalist nations usually has more comfort and life choices than the upper middle classes do in the nations of these haters…

  41. I’m guessing there won’t be an open bar…

(Although Madrassa Lawyers might point out that the Koran only bans alcohol made from grain or grape, so mead is OK.)

Lots of dairy companies ferment lactose to make a base for spirits such as Vodka … can’t see that market booming though. 🙁

  42. All of us who read history know that Islam is in fact really an incredibly peaceful and enlightened religion and it’s good shit. There’s just a few bad apples that have given them a bum rap, too bad for that.

Yes, a couple of bands of nasty pirates during Thomas Jefferson’s time resulted in all that bad PR that continues to this day.

  43. Dihydrogen Oxide is a big killer too.

  44. Wrong thread.

Is there a rule named after someone for that?

  45. Man, I’d love to be working in the kitchen and slip a little bacon in the hors d’oeuvres.

  46. I suggest a huge demonstration outside the hotel by naked female tea party members. That’ll show em!

  47. “So you do know that, even though Hizb-ut Tahrir is Islamist, it is explicitly pacifist in how it wants to bring about the Caliphate?”

One little problem: how “pacifist” will the future Super Terrific Happy Hour Caliphate be toward any of its subjects who, gosh darn it, decide it’s not to their liking?

    Hmmmmmmmmmm?

  48. One little problem: how “pacifist” will the future Super Terrific Happy Hour Caliphate be toward any of its subjects who, gosh darn it, decide it’s not to their liking?

Oh, come on now. Everybody knows it is those non-believing troublemakers starting all the problems. Just look at Palestine. Gaza is nothing but a happy, peace loving hamlet and those mean old Israeli’s keep coming in and blowing it up for no good reason.

BTW, my friend sent me a cool site that has IDF chick t-shirts. Just in time to replenish my t-shirt supply 😉

  49. I see that the Meeting is now at the Hilton. The great irony is that this group of hate mongers is putting money in the pocket of Paris Hilton. I never thought I would say this but Go Paris! Will her film be available on in the room pay for view for those radicals traveling from out of town?

  50. “Will her film be available on in the room pay for view for those radicals traveling from out of town?”

The real question is, who will be co-starring in this production? I am curious which pontificating imam would be willing to let the “Whore of Babylon” wax his crankshaft.

  51. This administration and Congress will do more harm than these ragheads will ever do.

  52. There’s a shot of a huge crowd of protesters. Several are holding up a big banner that reads, “Free Speech Symbolizes War on Islam.” If they believe that, then I guess I am at war on Islam and always will be.

  53. Obama’s new spiritual mentor?

  54. Butler MO car dealer. I love MO rednecks.

Buy a truck, get a free AK-47. (probably Romanian crap)

Their buy a truck get a handgun was one of their last sales.

The dealership owner had an interview on CNN where he made the host look like a tard.

  55. If they’re against capitalism, then what the hell are they doing over here?

  56. Hmm…after actually watching the video, I was pretty sure it was advertising some sort of pay-per-view sporting event.

  57. About the 50 mil musli imigrants…
    Are the women hawt?

  58. If they’re against capitalism, then what the hell are they doing over here?

Trying to ‘educate’ us for our better good. Or something.

    Are the women hawt?

Islam crosses all national groups, so there is probably something in there that you will like.

  59. I’m gonna set up a T-Shirt booth out front. All shirts at the anti-capitalist price of $20.00 each!

Get your “Don’t hesitate, Caliphate” and “WWMD?” (What Weapons of Mass Destruction? or What Would Mohammed Do?)shirts while supplies last!

  60. The problem with capitalism falling is that it appears to be falling into fascism, I wouldn’t mind if capitalism fell into free markets.

  61. I like the banner that said “Free Speech Symbolizes War on Islam”. I’m looking to join an anti-free speech organization; preferably one that uses judicial eye removal surgery, amputation and beheading for sinners.

  62. No doubt, if you were to point out the hypocrisy of their use of software, computers, music, fonts, and stock images that would all be unavailable without free market capitalism, the retort would be something about using the tools of the running dog capitalist pigs against them.

In other words, they’re college liberals.

  63. These are the same goobers that march in Europe all the time for just about everything from a stiff breeze to their tomatoes not being ripe enough. I think they are the same numb nuts that claim something like 1000 converts a month in Europe.

  64. Are the women hawt?

More than likely, yes. Many Persian, Arab, and Turkish women can be quite hot.

  65. As far as Muslims immgrating to the US, as long as they give up their violent ways and take more peaceful methods of protest, it may not be all bad.

For one, it would be the end of feminism and gay radicalism. There will be no more Perez Hiltons or anti-male divorce slavery. That is a plus right there.

  66. “As far as Muslims immgrating to the US, as long as they give up their violent ways and take more peaceful methods of protest, it may not be all bad.”

Is the test to be multiple choice or essay? Who grades it?

  67. The end of capitalism? Where do I sign up?

  68. This remind me of the likes of Erich Fromm and Herbert Marcuse, esteemed college professors in the US, bashing capitalism while making their living on it. Go teach from a mountain in Himalaya and grow your own tomatoes, you hypocrite motherfuckers!

  69. Why are they in the West, if they hate Western values? Not that land has DNA, but aren’t there enough “Muslim” lands for them to spew their hatred of Western civilization?

  70. Why are they in the West, if they hate Western values?

Because they couldn’t get away with it anywhere else.

  71. I love that most of the iconic images are almost content neutral, so that the same montage would work for a group lamenting the fall of capitalism and the rise of Islan.

  72. >Looks like Reason.tv could learn a thing or two >from these folks on the video front.

    🙂

Yeah that current video on the evils of socialized medicine is pretty awful. It deserves to be rated: EPIC FAIL. It actually makes Michael Moore films look restrained in comparison.

In the future I will try and say what I really mean.

  73. Are the women hawt?

    Who knows man. Who knows.

  74. I grew up a few miles from there and my family still lives near there. My friend went to protest today…numerous cars w/Obama Bumper Stickers pulled in as well as white Limos. Many attendees stuck their midle fingers out the window at the protestors holdig American Flags and Freedom signs. My friend who is 4 mos pregnant went in and was told she couldn’t sit w/her male friend & he told them that we sit w/our women in the USA. They tried to lift him out of his chair then stopped. Unbelieveable!!!

  75. Suddenly I have an urge for bacon.

  76. I attended the protest today. I’m thinking we need to play a game of Cowboys and Muslims…

  77. dedicated not the elimination of “Jewish power” or the restoration of the Muslim caliphate (though I suspect these pressing concerns will be addressed), but to declare the end of capitalism

With radical Muslim groups (no different than white supremacists, but the cloak of religion gives them a multi-culti respect they don’t deserve) the “end of capitalism” = “elimination of Jewish power”.
