Obama Blocks Access to White House Logs

|

Another blow to transparency:

The Obama administration is fighting to block access to names of visitors to the White House, taking up the Bush administration argument that a president doesn't have to reveal who comes calling to influence policy decisions. Despite President Barack Obama's pledge to introduce a new era of transparency to Washington, and despite two rulings by a federal judge that the records are public, the Secret Service has denied msnbc.com's request for the names of all White House visitors from Jan. 20 to the present.

  1. No arguments here. He’s a buttmunch in some ways.

  2. Anyone surprised?

  3. “Change You Can Believe In” appears to be not much change at all.

The only real change is which faction of the Washington crowd gets to be on top and gets the cream of the spoils system

  4. I can explain. When Obama says “transparent”, he uses the “trans” in its “beyond” meaning (instead of “showing through”) and “parent” in its “I brought you into this would, and I can take you out. And make another one just like you” meaning. In other words, he’s saying that his government will be a super nanny. An ?ber Kinderm?dchen, if you will.

  5. Thant’s my boy!

  6. I saw right through his transparency rhetoric from the start.

  7. Bye the bye, did we ever get to see which visitors JFK had in the White House?

  8. Before Warren gets here –

    *Power Chord*
    Meet the new boss
    Same as the ols boss

  9. Keep in mind, folks, that “transparent” means “not apparent to the naked eye.”

So, when he promised change and transparency, he was promising change that you can’t see with the naked eye.

    Mission accomplished!

  10. I never say this, but man it would be fun to have joe around right now to be our personal little punching bag.

  11. I remember how crazy people got when Dick Cheney “established a secret Energy Task Force… meeting behind closed doors with energy industry executives….” Those were the days!

  12. “I never say this, but man it would be fun to have joe around right now to be our personal little punching bag.”

We could all take turns peeing in his smug little mouth.

  13. I never say this, but man it would be fun to have joe around right now to be our personal little punching bag.

    We were all thinking it.

We could all take turns peeing in his smug little mouth.

Warty could pee in his butt.

  14. In loco transparentis.

  15. Obama couldn’t have gotten to this position by being a political neophyte. His secret meetings with human rights organizations, anti-war groups and the ACLU would be paraded all over Fox News as evidence of him being a ” pinko commie”. We all know that Obama is trying is hardest to pick up the mess that bush left behind. He didn’t ask to walk into a disaster. This is very hard work and it is hard to do these difficult things. Just trust him, he did end Gitmo and get us out of Iraq right? He is doing a great job so far, imagine how bad the economy would be if he hadn’t gotten that huge bailout package passed?

  16. Come on, lighten up. You hear everything you want about the White House *dog*, don’t you? Seriously, my dictionary defines “transparent” as “easily seen through, recognized, or detected: his transparent excuses.”

  17. What happened to joe? I miss all the fighting. I go away for a few months and all the fun is gone.

  18. If the worst thing his detractors can point to is restricted access to some logs, I’d say he’s doing pretty well.

    PWNED

  19. With his batting average to date, I’m even starting to hear grumbling from the Obamabots.

Is there any campaign promise he’s delivered on?

  20. Rhywun, read this thread. It’s long, but it’s joe’s swan song, so enjoy.

  21. He promised to be black and really, really liberal. Benchmark achieved!

  22. Oh, goodie! And it’s got monkeys and The Post and Al Sharpton, too. My day is complete.

    *brushes up sleeves*

  23. So, those whose voted for Obama had massive nostalgia for the George W Bush years? Is that why you did it? You couldn’t get enough, so you voted for BushSquared? Bush lovers.

  24. So, those whose voted for Obama had massive nostalgia for the George W Bush years?

Nah. They were either rubes, marks, useful idiots, or were in line for some “earmarks” when the Chicago Machine moved to Pennsylvania Avenue.

    Did I miss anybody?

  25. RC – I think there may have been some Obama voters outside those categories who merely wanted to act on their patronizing attitude towards blacks.

  26. Obama the liar strikes again.

    What a hypocritical cunt.

  27. It’s, like, a breath of fresh air…

  28. “Is there any campaign promise he’s delivered on?”

    The earth is cooling.

  29. msnbc.com’s request at the bottom says
    “I would appreciate your
communicating with me by telephone, rather than by mail, if you have questions regarding this request.”
but he doesn’t list his phone number in the document…

  30. Obama Blocks Access to White House Logs

I flush mine down the toilet. Why can’t he ?
