Reason's Howley Banned in Burma
From Will Wilkinson's blog, we learn that former Reason magazine staffer and current contributing editor Kerry Howley is not welcome in the nation of Burma. And that is almost certainly attributable in large part to her consistently observent and critical writings on the nation's tyrannous regime in our pages. (Howley lived in and worked as a journalist in Burma before joining Reason.)
In other Burma news, over at the American Conservative Jim Pittaway visits that grim nation after more than a decade of absence, is appalled by what he sees, and foresees the possibility of another nightmare Cambodia-in-the-70s situation when everything finally cracks.

Right Wing Noise Machine drowning out the real truth again?
Though if indeed it is such a God awful place, why go back for vacation?
Good on ya, Kerry! That's about as high a compliment as any paranoid xenophobic regime can give.
Kerry Howley should take that as high praise indeed. keep up the good work!
That's like, really funny. You go girl!
How do *I* get banned from Burma Shave? Does chewing gum in public still work?
They love to show unedited atrocity porn taken during the 1988 uprising to unsuspecting foreign guests, including Senator and Mrs. McCain. She threw up and then passed out.
WTF? Is this true?
Is this true?
If it is, it helps explain why she takes so much drugs.
She may not be welcome in Burma, but she'll always have a place in my heart.
I wonder which piece it was that broke the camel's back?
And if a Cambodia-like situation does occur in Burma, I am sure we can rely on Noam Chomsky to claim only a few thousand died.

...and perhaps blame Richard Nixon also?
Congrats Kerry!
Obviously, if a Cambodia-like situation arises in Burma, it will be because we cut and run from Iraq.
I am surprised Kerry took the time out to write about Burma. She is usually too busy calling principled opponents of illegal immigration bigots and racists to write about anything else.
Why the hate on Kerry? I like her stuff...
That's okay, she can stay with me. xD
What about Sylvester Stallone? They can't be too heppy with him.
Banned by Burma? oh Miss Howley, will your sex appeal never stop growing?
I guess they won't be honeymooning in Burma after all.
Obviously, if a Cambodia-like situation arises in Burma, it will be because we cut and run from Iraq.
Or because we invaded Iraq thereby tying down the military resources needed for a Humanitarian Intervention That Wouldn't Call for Nation-Building, No Sir.
Thing is, as opposed in principle as I am (or should be) to intervening in Burma, there IS another option:
Dammit, forgot the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aung_San_Suu_Kyi
Bravo to Kerry Howley!
If a Cambodia-like situation arises in Burma/Myanmar, will the Dead Kennedys write a holiday song?
Kerry Howley is Skyful of Liars!
Put that on your goddamn wall. That's awesome.
Will there be some sort of documentary coming out about Kerry? "Kerry Howley: To Hot for Burma". I would watch it, buy the regular widescreen edition dvd and the unrated directors cut dvd.
I thought it was called Myanmar?
post about nothing,
Thats just what THEY want you to think.
I'd like to buy Kerry Howley a drink. A vinegar and water.
