The Best Fake Blog or the Worst Real One? Ever.
I realize that I am a bit late to the party that is McCainBlogette.com: Musings and Pop Culture on the Political Trail, authored by Sen. John McCain's daughter Meghan (with "photos by Heather"), but this site is either the most brilliant satire of all time, or the worst blog of all time. Currently at the top of the page:
Today began with one of the most memorable and unique town halls of Dad's campaign, held at the Toyota Arena in York, Pennsylvania. For the first time, Jay drove the "Straight Talk" right into the middle of the packed hall and Dad, U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman and former Governor Tom Ridge exited the bus into the cheering crowd of more than 3,000 people to start the town hall. It was such a cool entrance and an amazing event! I had a great time watching it unfold from the front seat of the bus. It was also fun spending most of the day with Senator Lieberman, one of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever met. Tomorrow we head to Michigan…
The site is heavy on pics with minimal captioning (Meghan, author of the forthcoming children's book, My Dad, John McCain, notes at one point that "They played 'Eye of the Tiger' as the bus entered the arena") and evokes the studied banality of an Andy Warhol movie and the awshucksitude of Little Billy subbing for Bil Keane on a Family Circus bender.
Here's a photo titled, "Starting the day with a hug from Senator Lieberman."
And here's one called "Check out this little boy's tie":

The must have let someone who hasn't donated to the campaign ask a question.
Poor kid. Somebody's obviously ghost blogging, and she's being forced to go along with it. Nobody could write like that if they had to put their own name on it.
It's gotta be parody. This line gives it away:
Here's the proper way to use the "fun to spend most of the day" and "Senator Lieberman" in the same sentence:
My eyes! Good lord that blog sucked.
Intelligence runs in the family, I see.
That crowd looks quite shy of 3000.
the worst blog of all time
I'm a moth, and that sentence is like a back porch light on a warm summer evening. I had to click.
By the way, is that Mom's plane?
one of the most memorable and unique
If "most...unique" isn't a parody, it should be.
The Best Fake Blog or the Worst Real One? Ever.
It is a real one.
This should have given you a clue:
evokes the studied banality of an Andy Warhol movie and the awshucksitude of Little Billy subbing for Bil Keane on a Family Circus bender.
McCain sired an uninteresting and untalented political operative.
My guess would be 99.9% of the world's parents can claim the same thing.
Finally some idea about how a Paris Hilton blog would look like.
Nah, the Hilton blog would be better--I've never seen a blog with such studied insincerity.
I think it's real though--and I also go with the "ghost blog" hypothesis, it's something a fearfully cautious McCain minion would come up with in order to "be hip and with it - like the kids of today" on strict orders of the Boss himself.
Banal... She comes across as someone with far less intelligence than you'd expect from someone who supposedly went, where was it?, Columbia?
Paris Hilton wouldn't have been impressed with that kid's tie. Wow. A red, white and blue necktie at a republican rally? That's like being impressed by seeing someone sporting a mullet at a NASCAR event.
Odd, my employer's web filter blocked the site. Reason? "Political Organizations".
Lieberman looks like he's enjoying that hug, if not a bit too much, then at least a bit more than Meghan.
Now I'm not saying it's an overly enthusiastic squeeze that lingers a little too long with a little too much back rubbing and a little too much body contact, of the sort teenage girls endure from their creepy uncles. But then again, I'm not saying it's not.

You and six billion others.
McCain sired an uninteresting and untalented political operative.
My guess would be 99.9% of the world's parents can claim the same thing.
I would guess that at most 50% of the world's parents could claim to have sired anything, and relatively few could claim to have sired a political operative. 😉
Who is the asian chick Shannon in the pictures? Just a friend of her's or John McCain's love child or ...?
When , if ever, has a national political campaign featured better "playlists"?
The Misfits, The Clash.....
Ah, nothing like politicians shamelessly using the moppets!
How long do you think it will take before she ends up like one of these adorable Republican moppets:

(An oldie, but definitely a Hit and Run goodie!)
I believe the the three hotties pictured are entirely responsible for the blog
Meghan is sporting a world class rack.
I find it interesting that Leiberman is touring with McCain. Do you think it's possible that McCain might pick Leiberman for his running mate?
If so, expect a lot of GOP heads to explode. I for one, would love to laugh in some of those lemontart "we must support whoever is the nominee" faces...
What would be great is if Obama picked Sore as his VP and McCain picked Looserman as his VP and we could have a complete rehash of 2000.
I'll take Political Parodies for $1000 Alex.
I thought the GOP would love Lieberman as the VP. Have you forgotten? 9/11 changed everything.
Siv wrote "Meghan is sporting a world class rack."
And just think how handy that would come in when conducting both soft and hard diplomacy!
McCain has got to get Meghan out front in the campagin pronto.
Got my vote.
Ouch Ironic that hurt.
Huh? It's exactly what you'd expect from the young-ish daughter of a candidate: bland and rah-rah and a bit silly.
I guess you have to hate Republicans to get the joke.
Better caption:
Fat, tacky and brainwashed is no way to go through life, son.
She's not bad looking, but she's way too thick. Shouldn't facially attractive daughters of presidential candidates have the wherewithal to get a personal trainer and get slim? Paris Hilton is a douchebag but she's perfectly acceptable in a bikini. And her blog would be much, much better just for that reason.
My vote is that this is real, otherwise the person doing it would have to have access to her iPhoto library (or whatever McCain is using). There's just way too much stuff here that only the closest of insiders would have.
Qua? ed:
Wait, I'm confused. I though ed was a parody of a Republican troll... In any event, the partial crowd pictures, like this one, certainly fit the 3000 number without any difficulty.
I'm not a hacker in any sense, so I put this charge out to all self-respecting libertarian hackers: this blog must be commendeered for the good of mankind.
The material that is already there will make great art, even if only tweaked slightly:
"I started the day with a hug from Joe Lieberman. My bosom heaved with excitement as I felt his firm, manly shaft pressed against me. His welcoming arms ... a place I never wanted to leave..."
The "How cool is this shot?" caption should have be accompanied by her touching herself, not McCain's bus bearing down on the reader.
Way too thick? Looks just about right for my tastes.
I'm with SIV... I'd vote for McCain just to see all the photos the tabloids would post for the next four years!
She's not bad looking, but she's way too thick. Shouldn't facially attractive daughters of presidential candidates have the wherewithal to get a personal trainer and get slim?
This isn't good but, good lord man, "the worst blog of all time"?
Oh, no. I just agreed with TallDave. Someone please kill me.

LEAVE MEGHAN MCCAINE ALOOOOOONNNE!!! IF YOU WANT TO GO AFTER HER, YOU'LL HAVE TO GET THROUGH TALLDAVE!
The kid with the tie is disrespecting the American flag, which, traditionally, should not be used as clothing. A stars and stripes motif is OK for something to wear, but it's uncool to repurpose anything that looks like an actual flag. Didn't Mr. McCain support a flag desecration amendment at one time? Oh well: he claims to support the Constitution, too, but he nevertheless gave us BCRA. So let him and the little kids on his campaign trail wrap themselves in the flag. They're not fooling anyone.
