Barr just now on C-Span live.
Thanks, shrike.
Barr was pretty good in answering the callers questions on Washington Journal this morning (it just ended a few minutes ago, I'm sure it will re-air later). He waffled on his gay marriage and pro-life stances when the libertarian old lady called him out for not answering the previous caller's question ("the states should decide for themselves.. I'm pro-life.. etc"), but it really wasn't any different than Ron Paul's stance. Overall, he did a good job and I think he will present libertarian ideas well without seeming like a kook. I know plenty of other libertarians (including editors for this magazine) disagree with his nomination, and have very valid reasons for doing so. However, I think, for pragmatic reasons, he was a good choice.
Marcvs endorses Bob Barr for President. 😀
Is it true he is now defended DOMA on CNN despite his apologies at the convention? Did anyone see it? I really want to like Barr but, if true, my patience is about at the breaking point.
I distrust Barr as much as anyone here but overall I believe his nomination will be positive for the LP.
Reasoning - Name recognition, PR, and he is a pro at campaigning.
He was very smooth on Washington Journal - but the callers were really "into him" - notwithstanding the pro-choice LP old-timer.
Sums up Barr nicely
That skinny twat from the food nazi lobby doesn't look very healthy to me.

you guys really need to make podcast feeds available for the other stuff on reason.tv - not just the Drew Carey episodes. some of us are too lazy to check the site every day.
Audio podcasts! We need reason.radio! It's hard to watch Drew Carey videos while driving to work...
Bob Barr: "If there is a reason to have a government at all, it is to protect the nation."
Welcome to the Libertarians! The only party with sufficient omnitoxicomaniacs to really get confused about the difference between nationalism and libertarianism.
Frankly, I prefer the candidates with the tinfoil hats.

Which editors for this magazine disagree with his nomination?
not matt welch- remember he is a leader of the bob barr conspiracy. viguerie, gordon, welch, cory= gop takeover!
( I dont believe this but some of my less stable radical friends seriously do)
Matt Welch is part of the Republican takeover of the Libertarian Party? That's pretty awesome, considering I've never voted for a candidate from either party for president....
I'm still disappointed that Ron Paul didn't burn his GOP card and make an LP run. And I'm surprised that more people aren't more disappointed about that as well.

Mega-dittos, New Republican Welch 😀
I'm more stunned that a lot of Libertarians are still beholden to Ron, even though he refuses to leave the Republican Party; but hate Barr, for leaving and repudiating his views.
Paul had an amazing opportunity and blew it, big time.
Interloper!!! Intruder Alert! Intruder Alert!

Libertarianism in 2058? "We believe that people have a right to remove their brain monitor electrode while sleeping and pooping."
Which editors for this magazine disagree with his nomination?
Ok, so I guess I misread Jesse Walker's post, but it definitely wasn't a ringing endorsement. For what it's worth, I disagree with the nomination of Root as well.
