Barr was pretty good in answering the callers questions on Washington Journal this morning (it just ended a few minutes ago, I'm sure it will re-air later). He waffled on his gay marriage and pro-life stances when the libertarian old lady called him out for not answering the previous caller's question ("the states should decide for themselves.. I'm pro-life.. etc"), but it really wasn't any different than Ron Paul's stance. Overall, he did a good job and I think he will present libertarian ideas well without seeming like a kook. I know plenty of other libertarians (including editors for this magazine) disagree with his nomination, and have very valid reasons for doing so. However, I think, for pragmatic reasons, he was a good choice.

I distrust Barr as much as anyone here but overall I believe his nomination will be positive for the LP.

Reasoning - Name recognition, PR, and he is a pro at campaigning.

He was very smooth on Washington Journal - but the callers were really "into him" - notwithstanding the pro-choice LP old-timer.

I'm more stunned that a lot of Libertarians are still beholden to Ron, even though he refuses to leave the Republican Party; but hate Barr, for leaving and repudiating his views.

Paul had an amazing opportunity and blew it, big time.

Ok, so I guess I misread Jesse Walker's post, but it definitely wasn't a ringing endorsement. For what it's worth, I disagree with the nomination of Root as well.
