Stone Cold Killer
Controversial political operative Roger Stone continues to add notches his belt, his bedpost, whatever you want to call it. Here's one read on the fall of dirty-toilet pollster Mark Penn, who cashiered himself from the Hillary Clinton campaign this weekend:
Infamous Republican hit man Roger Stone was directly involved in the downfall of Clinton campaign chief strategist Mark Penn. Information printed by conservative columnist Robert Novak last Saturday that Penn's company—Burson Marsteller—was kiting $3 million worth of polling bills in possible violation of the federal campaign finance laws, was supplied by Stone….Stone was also the person who leaked word of Penn's contract last week with the Colombian government to help strategize for a free trade agreement (note: which Hillary Clinton opposes). While Penn stepped down from the post of chief strategist over the weekend, he clearly remains involved in Clinton's inner circle.
Last month Stone was credited by national media sources as the person who tipped off the feds to now-resigned NY Governor Eliot Spitzer's involvement with a high-priced prostitution ring…
Last November 28, Stone sat down with reason.tv and talked about Eliot Spitzer, the presidential race, and "Dirty Tricks and the Grand Tradition of American Politics." Click below to watch:

And Roger Stone gave Mark David Chapman a copy of "Catcher in the Rye" and convinced him that John Lennon was really "kinda overrated."
According to every other media account, the Feds were tipped off to Spitzer by his financial transactions. As for Mark Penn, why would a Republican bump off Hillary's greatest albatross?
ditto, Abdul, the Spitzer claim makes the first claim less credible, not more. (Reminds me of claims that Rumsfeld was responsible for Metamucil being offered with orange flavoring and Gore being responsible for the Internet.)
It sounds Stone actually did a huge favour for the Democratic Party.
Abdul,
A lot has come out about this. Stone tipped off the FBI.

Al Gore and the Internet
By Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf
(i.e. the two guys who, if anyone could, could claim they 'invented' the Internet)
Al Gore was the first political leader to recognize the importance of the
Internet and to promote and support its development.
No one person or even small group of persons exclusively "invented" the
Internet. It is the result of many years of ongoing collaboration among
people in government and the university community. But as the two people
who designed the basic architecture and the core protocols that make the
Internet work, we would like to acknowledge VP Gore's contributions as a
Congressman, Senator and as Vice President. No other elected official, to
our knowledge, has made a greater contribution over a longer period of time.
Last year the Vice President made a straightforward statement on his
role. He said: "During my service in the United States Congress I took the
initiative in creating the Internet." We don't think, as some people have
argued, that Gore intended to claim he "invented" the Internet. Moreover,
there is no question in our minds that while serving as Senator, Gore's
initiatives had a significant and beneficial effect on the still-evolving
Internet. The fact of the matter is that Gore was talking about and
promoting the Internet long before most people were listening. We feel it
is timely to offer our perspective...
and Al Gore invented "Global Warning', oops, "warming" and was rewarded handsomely for his scientific contribution. Should be BMFIC
joe,
I guess I stand corrected. Apparently, Stone wrote a letter to the FBI about spitzer when Stone was being investigated for leaving an expletive-laced tirade on Spitzer's father's answering machine.
Best part of the letter?
[Stone] alleged that Spitzer had spent tens of thousands of dollars on hookers using some prearranged financial transfer and - in a much highlighted detail - "did not remove his midcalf length black socks during the sex act."
Baby, not the socks!
wOW!! Mr. Penn still getting paid by the blue-collar donations given to Mrs. Clinton's campaign. What a spit on the face that must be...paying the guy who was trying to outsource your job. It seems Mr. Wolfson is on the same boat.
When I'm down to my socks, you know it's business time that's why they're called business socks oooh.
