Now Playing at Reason.tv: David Weigel on Presidential Politics

|

In the wake of the Ohio and Texas primaries, it's clear sailing for presumptive Republican nominee John McCain but a cloudy future for Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

reason Associate Editor David Weigel follows electoral politics with intensity and insight. The day after the primaries, he sat down with reason.tv to discuss how McCain nabbed the GOP nod, how Clinton stopped Obama's momentum, and how November is likely to shape up (four minutes).

For god’s sake, Mr. Gillespie, who puts you up to writing this tripe?

  2. I’ll have to remember to go easier on Weigel in the future.

  3. I am at work and can’t WTFV, but I’m just going to assume that Hawkwind’s “We took the wrong step years ago” is playing in the background.

    ROTFLMFAO

Dude… thats not really funny in the way you mean.

I mean, you’re crazy and retarded… he’s just a *dork*. On overall points, you’re WAYYYYY behind. And if you havent caught on yet =

NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK

your credibilty is like, what equity people would call “BETA”. as in, whatever’s generally right?… you would behave the exact opposite.

  5. …until Weigel starts talking about Hillary. Then the music switches to “I Am the Center of This Universe”.

  6. GILMORE: Dude, lonewackjob is definitely mopping floors with the rest of the gammas.

  7. I found the videeo insightful.

I disagree, however, with Mr. Weigel’s precidtion that a continued Dem. primary fight will lead to a McCain victory in Nov.

Even a bloodied Dem. will defeat McCain. As an Arizona native and resident, I promise you that McCain does not have what it takes to run the effective campaign he will need to run.

McCain is very unpopular with AZ GOP voters, and his hypocrisy over issues like campaign finance reform and taxation will ultimately eat away at this false aura of integrity that surrounds him.

Also, the American people simply will not accept a continuation of many of GWB’s policies , nor will they elect to be led by an up-tight, status quo Naval Academy stiff.

    But I am biased.

  8. I’ll apologize to Weigel, noting that I don’t usually call people names in that way (in other ways, yes).

  9. I have seen several photos of Mr. Weigel. He looks like Charlie Sheen, but much bigger. He is taller than you’d think. He could crush your larynx between his thumb and forefinger from about five feet away. Watch yourselves.

  10. Interesting point, that Hillary might be raising the issue of Florida and Michigan not because she expects their “elected” delegates to be seated, but as a way to get Superdelegate support.

  11. NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK

Actually…you are quite mistaken about that, Gilmore. I care what Lonewacko has to say – I even visit his website occasionally. But then, you probably don’t care what I think either. I gotta tell ya though, dude, the very thought of that just tears my heart out. You just know it does. 😉

Are you a graduate researcher on abnormal psychology?

    If not… ? … I can’t put it together.

  13. Are you a graduate researcher on abnormal psychology?

Nope. I just don’t restrict myself to reading or listening to only one point of view. Besides – the way all of you here at H&R rag on him whenever he posts, I figured I should check him out for myself. Hell, I even read Lew Rockwell sometimes and some of the Objectivism sites. I wander here and there.

    How old are you?

  15. oh, and dont say “94”. We had that joke last night.

  16. Weigel really looks like a sexually repressed adolescent. Are sexually repressed adolescents a big libertarian constituency? It would explain a lot.

    How old are you?

Me? I turned 58 a month ago – why? How old are you?

  18. Oh.

Enough into my 30s to want to say I’m still 29.

    Forget i asked.

  19. Weigel is kewl, haters vacate.

Hmm. The last time I thought insulting a person’s appearance was an effective way of criticizing his thoughts, I was about 11 years old. Are you a pre-pubescent, MK2? It would explain a lot.

  21. Jen, Baby, who said anything about Weigel’s thoughts? That’s like attacking me for something I said in one of your dreams. Have you been dreaming about me? That would explain a lot.
