Paul Fan Video v. Clinton Fan Video: Tattoos, Handcuffs, Defiance Beat Hair Nets, Rubber Gloves, Spunkiness
Keith Halderman unfavorably compares that cringe-inducing Laverne and Shirley ode to Hillary Clinton with Aimee Allen's catchy Ron Paul song (below). While I have my doubts about rhyming grave with state, and I'm not sure why the IRS is putting duct tape over Allen's mouth (maybe because she tried to sell books by Irwin Schiff?), her effort is undeniably superior: original, pointed, and sexy, as opposed to an embarrassing retread of a song that was bad enough to begin with. But inasmuch as Allen is a professional songwriter and performer, while the Hillary fan who thinks the senator has what it takes to make all our dreams come true is (I'm assuming) not, the comparison is not exactly fair. There's a more telling contrast between the war and civil liberties themes of Allen's video and the stop-the-invading-landscapers message of campaign commercials like this one.
In the April issue of reason, which subscribers will receive soon, Dave Weigel explains why Paul's "lunge for the Minuteman vote didn't work."
Update: The Aimee Allen video seems to have been removed from YouTube, although it's still available here. You can find the audio of her song on YouTube, illustrated by various still images (here and here, for example), but it's not quite the same.
Update to the update: The video is back up on YouTube. The issue seems to have been the implied connection to the Paul campaign. It is now labeled "Aimee Allen: *Unofficial* Ron Paul Revolution Video."

Yeah, apparently the old strategy of the Newsletter days of appealing to the angry old white racist "populists" didn't work?
The video says that YouTube has already taken down the video; the only reason it gives is a Terms of Use violation.
Also the Aimee Allen video has been removed by Youtube for TOS violation.

awww, crap. I love it when tattooed grrrls sing about Ron Paul...
Search for "aimee allen ron paul" on youtube. It's there. Also, this babe is a babe.
Perhaps the IRS duct tape thing refers to the fact that if you tell someone that your research reveals that the 16th Amendment was never properly ratified, and they believe you and don't pay their taxes, you can be arrested for conspiracy.
Personally, I think those 16th Amendment types are all wet - but the tax code is apparently one area of the law where voicing the wrong opinion on a historical event makes you a criminal. Sort of our own little version of Europe's Holocaust Denial laws.
Video isn't working but judging by her homepage shes definitely boinkable http://www.aimeeallen.com/
Oh yeah politics, something, etc.. shes pretty damn hot.

...but still managed to renew the social conservative lease on the libertarian soul in the eyes of the national consciousness. I'm sure it was worth it. (I'm looking forward to another ten years of hearing libertarianism being declared "crypto-fascism" thanks to this campaign.)
Rimfax, if you're discouraged by the fact that people will make untrue statements about libertarianism or characterize it in ways you don't like, I suggest you just kill yourself now.
There is no magical moment coming when everyone around you will decide to interpret your political positions in the way you most would like, and when your political opponents will lay down and declare you the best person evah.

I'm sure it will be a very special article. Of course, I don't recall Dr. Paul putting his heart or even much verbage into the issue and explaining why it's important. Nor do I recall him pointing out except in a few minor cases how his opponents were wrong on the issue. Nor do I recall any of his supporters even once trying to directly hold his opponents accountable on the issue. Meanwhile, the MSM constantly lies about the issue and allowed RP's opponents to lie.
So, yeah, I guess if you just completely ignore the context the no doubt stock article might be right.
oh boy... here come the black helicopters...

Point taken. Still, it helps if the most viable libertarian candidate doesn't eagerly hand out so much ammunition to his detractors.

Naturally the "April" issue will be arriving in February. We are all eagerly waiting to read the articles written in 2007.

Merely writing a book won't get you arrested. Breaking the law and defrauding other into breaking the law will. See the difference? If you convince a cult of people that they can magically fly, and they subsequently plunge off a cliff to their deaths, I hope the government locks you up Charlie Manson as a roommate.
I have some small sympathy for those deluded by the tax conspiracy bullshit, but I have none at all for those who wilfully delude them.
CRINGE
Ug...cranking up the GWAR now to purge my mind of such wretchedness.

Hey, I was just trying to clear up Sullum's confusion about the symbolism of the IRS and the tape.
And no, I don't really see any difference from writing a book saying the 16th Amendment was never ratified and you shouldn't have to pay income taxes and holding a seminar to say the same thing. I think in both cases you're factually wrong, but not engaged in a conspiracy.
Fluffy,
No, I'm discouraged by the fact that supposed libertarians like Paul make it so easy for them to do so.
Not sure where the fuck the rest of your post came from. Cheers.
I saw the IRS on the tape as representing the destructive tax on labor and Ron Paul's desire to abolish it.

Browsing around LiveLeak, I found this video and got way too excited that In Flames was the background music. Ron Paul, the death metal candidate!
Did Paul accept the LP's offer or was that supposed to say "libertarian-leaning Republican candidate"? Plus, I thought Dondero said Giuliani Thompson Romney someone other than Paul was the "most viable libertarian candidate". For real though, Paul's detractors will probably point to his immigration pandering as what they like most about him.
I could be wrong but I think that was Fluffy's point. If you let the actions and statements of "supposed libertarians" discourage you, then you will be eternally discouraged. How do you feel when Bill Maher and Neal Boortz describe themselves as "libertarians" to national audiences? I talk to people on the regular that think libertarians are pro-Iraq war because of Boortz but, even though I can't guarantee it will never happen, I've yet to talk to someone that believes libertarians are anti-immigrant because of Paul.

They were at my place Friday afternoon. I took pictures.

That song is weak ass drivel.
why the f*ck did that violate the terms of use?????? I tried to read through the youtube legal jargon but my disgust with the legal profession comes at my own peril.
Thoughts?? advocating revolution is illegal(i think) and therefore not allowed on youtube?????
Odd place on the body for one to have tattoos - especially for a woman.
Standard Male Human Disclaimer #76: Yes, this girl is really hot.
That being said, this song made me want to vomit in a cup, guzzle it, and vomit up the vomit again.
Aimee Allen...
Who?
"lunge for the Minuteman vote didn't work."
I don't think that was the problem, it was the campaign. I don't mind him getting support from minutemen, but you need a good campaign. Can't just expect to get masses of support because of it.
