Only slightly tangentially, I just came across a letter to the editor of the American Journal of Medical Genetics which suggested that the biblical account of Eve being created from Adam's rib is the result of a mistranslation of the word taken to be rib, but was actually referring to the baculum, or os penis, the bone many mammals use to erect their erections. They letter writers offered that the author(s) of Genesis were attempting to account for the bone's absence in humans. Early intelligent design theory?
