I get it! Oprah is a racist!

  2. ed   18 years ago

But she gives out nice gifts to her drones.
YOU get a car! YOU get a car!

I’d love to see a study on how much affect these media personalities really have, is that even possible? I’m sure someone could plan one.

    Round 1. O’Reilly vs. Oprah.

What kind of odds would you give Bill not to come out bloody and bruised ?

  4. Cracker\'s Boy   18 years ago

    @Episiarch

Right. Oprah is a racist. If she had said Vote Clinton, she’d be a socialist. If she had said Vote Paul she’d be… the host of a show I’d watch.

Oprah’s on a different plane from Bill O’Reilley, or Chuck Norriss, or pretty much any other celebrity that’s out there.

Oprah is probably the most-admired woman in America, maybe the most-admired person in America. In terms of her influence, she’s probably going to have a greater influence on this primary than Bill Clinton.

I think MADTV pretty much nailed Oprah down. “Film me with the thin camera!”

  7. joe   18 years ago

Ha! I get it! She’s a woman, and you don’t find here attractive!

    That IS funny.

  8. ed   18 years ago

maybe the most-admired person in America.

I think not. Perhaps you meant to say “among liberal-lefties”?

  9. Episiarch   18 years ago

Ha! I get it! She’s a woman, and you don’t find here attractive!

Maybe you should watch some clips before passing smug judgement. I know it’s not your style, but give it a shot. You might even laugh.

  10. sage   18 years ago

I never watch her show (or most others, FTM), but she sure seems full of herself. Can’t she find anyone other than herself to be on the cover of her own magazine?

  11. ed   18 years ago

She may be a megalomaniac, but she’s our megalomaniac, dammit!

And yes, joe, I’ll admit she does do well in popularity contests.

  12. Taktix?   18 years ago

Can’t she find anyone other than herself to be on the cover of her own magazine?

If I had the cash to keep a magazine running with my picture on every cover, I’d do that shit too…

  13. Chucklehead   18 years ago

I basically agree with joe. Love her or hate her, Oprah is extremely influential with lefty, middle class, soccer moms. She can make or break an author with her book-club criticism or a “product” she swears by and gives away on her give-away shows.

Dunno about her political influence tho’.

  14. Reinmoose   18 years ago

BillO’s got nothin on Oprah. The woman can make other people famous just by them being on her show.

  15. PantsFan   18 years ago

So Obama is going to be president because Oprah said?

  16. ed   18 years ago

    YOU get to be president!
    YOU get to be president!

  17. Episiarch   18 years ago

Oprah’s credibility was shattered when she pushed A Million Little Fibers.

  18. Finkelstein   18 years ago

Oprah undoubtedly had no knowledge of the abuse happening at her South African school. But, such things occurring under her watch could be indicative of the kind of people work for her organization, and the lack of oversight of her projects.

  19. ed   18 years ago

You gotta admit she carries a lot of weight.

  20. Seinfeld   18 years ago

What’s the deal with Oprah? She’s fat, she’s thin, she’s fat, she’s thin – pick a look, and STICK WITH IT!

  21. joe   18 years ago

    ed,

    Zing!

Even though I don’t appreciate the genre, I gotta admit that was well-done.

  22. dbust1   18 years ago

Someone refresh my memory please. Did the news about abuse at Oprah’s school come out before or after she came out in favor of Obama?

  23. LarryA   18 years ago

I, for one, rate Oprah’s on-screen opinion as highly reliable. When she tells us to vote for someone, that pretty much tells me all I need to know about that candidate.

If she had said Vote Paul…

    That would be news.
