Lemon Nader

The Iowa Independent gives all Earth's children a reason to be joyful:

The "Ralph Nader Democratic Caucus Campaign Draft Committee" is advertising for campaign staffers on the craigslist web pages for Des Moines and New Hampshire.

The Des Moines ad offers $1000 a week for full-time work between Dec. 15 and Jan. 15 and seeks "8 experienced (non-profit or political) organizers full time, and 12 field interns (6 part and 6 fulltime)."

Why are Nader fans trying to draft him as a Democrat now that dame Cynthia McKinney has left the Green Party's nomination up for grabs? Why would Nader enter the Democratic race when he's basically endorsed Mike Gravel, introducing him at the 2007 Take Back America conference? He seemed ready to pass the torch when I talked to him a few months back, but he's increasingly bearish on the candidates not named "Ralph Nader."

I figure Nader's brainscan right now would look a lot like Newt Gingrich's. Both guys have been in the national spotlight; both look at the current candidates and see them blowing opportunities or saying stupid things or otherwise falling short. They're like John Huarte watching the current Notre Dame team and cursing from the couch between handfuls of Bugles.
