  2. :-   18 years ago

    Funny.

  3. dhex   18 years ago

    quasi-funny.

  4. Episiarch   18 years ago

Hey, a Bok cartoon that isn't inscrutably obtuse!

  5. Number 6   18 years ago

Amusing. Not ROTFFL funny, but worth a smile.

  6. J sub D   18 years ago

    Number 6: WTF ROTFFL?

    Just curious.

  7. JBinMO   18 years ago

    I laughed.

  8. Mr. Average   18 years ago

Bathroom attendants creep me out. Doubly so if they're cops.

  9. Rimfax   18 years ago

Why does the bathroom attendant remind me of John McCain? ...must...fight...jibblies...

  10. M.   18 years ago

    I liked it.

  11. J sub D   18 years ago

    Bathroom attendants creep me out.

    You ain't alone there!

I wonder, are there bathroom attendants in the ladies room?

  12. TrickyVic   18 years ago

Semi-funny, but off the mark. Even if it was a cop you having nothing to fear about a cop handing you a towel, nor could that be misconstrued as a crime. I find the possibility of a cop working as a bathroom attendant semi-funny. It's a more fitting job for many of the cops Balko has been writing about.

  13. humblescholar   18 years ago

Euphemisms besides, what is an Attendant for, anyway? What's so hard about washing and drying your hands properly after taking a dump or a piss that people need help with it? Is there really a career to be made out of reminding people to dry their hands afterwards? What is going on here?

  14. Reinmoose   18 years ago

    Not really funny.
Now, if the bathroom attendent was offering him cologne...

  15. jimmy smith   18 years ago

    ...or wide stance instructions...

  16. Jonathan Hohensee   18 years ago

    ...or oral...

  17. Dave B.   18 years ago

Last time I went somewhere with a bathroom attendant, he started laughing maniacally while I was at the urinal. I made sure not to go in there alone after that.

  18. kebko   18 years ago

I just always thought it was bizarre that some people's work involves putting on a nice suit & going somewhere to sit all day & smell other people's shit.

  19. Lamar   18 years ago

The presence of bathroom attendants is proof that the place is a low class joint trying to act classy.

  20. lunchstealer   18 years ago

Wow. It took me forever to figure out the Craig angle. Thus not funny to me, becuase it lost all impact in the space between seeing and understanding.

  21. lunchstealer   18 years ago

Or they want somebody making sure there's nobody boinkin' or selling heroin in the stalls.

  22. Lamar   18 years ago

Perhaps the bathroom attendant should have asked the customer if he was a cop.

  23. Jewel   18 years ago

J sub D: Yes, there are attendants in ladies' rooms. They are usually there only to minimize vandalism and prevent the theft of toilet paper and paper towels. I last saw one in the rest room at the Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara Falls, a pretty nice restaurant. The rest room was nice, too. If there's an attendant present, they can keep stuff there like hand lotion, etc. It's amazing (and sad) how an informal type of policing keeps people in line.

For the last two years there have been attendants in the crappy portable bathrooms at the freakin' Wisconsin State Fair. I've never actually seen them do anything, but they become extremely irate if not tipped.

  25. TrickyVic   18 years ago

    """...or wide stance instructions..."""

    and hand signals.

  26. TrickyVic   18 years ago

Or the attendant sez, "your eyes look so blue underneath the stall"

  27. prolefeed   18 years ago

I just always thought it was bizarre that some people's work involves putting on a nice suit & going somewhere to sit all day & smell listen to other people's shit.

That describes my (former) job as a legislative assistant.

  28. J sub D   18 years ago

I'll wager you'll never find anybody claiming or accepting responsibility for that decision.

  29. J sub D   18 years ago

Jewel, thanks. I'd have investigated myself but, y'know...

  30. A   18 years ago

This could be a vague South Park reference, but I'm probably stretching it....
