Wyoming Republican Sen. Craig Thomas Dies
And because this is what everyone outside his friends and family will think of first: the balance of power in Senate will not be affected. The state's Dem governor has to pick a successor from a list provided by the state GOP. Although Thomas' term extended until 2012, a special election will be held in 2008 for the seat.

I hope the end was peaceful. Poor guy went in the hospital instead of at home. I hope he was in a hospice wing.
Does anyone know what happened to Tim Johnson?
I'm not crazy about the Dems but I kinda wish they'll get another seat somehow before the next election so they can tell Holy Joe Lieberman to piss off.
Did he fill out his organ donor card beforehand?
Why - you need something?
Taint augmentation?
As far as I can tell, the late Senator Thomas was that rarest of birds - an un-tainted Republican.
Cesar:
Tim Johnson has been back to work for awhile; I just checked his website- looks like he's up and about (and apparently carrying a cane).
Wouldn't shock me if he doesn't run for another term though. Provided Mike Rounds doesn't try to make the leap for the Senate, it will be a clear field for Stephanie Herseth to step into the seat (and it's pretty much inevitable that she'll go for the Senate in a few years, Johnson retirement or not).
Nah - new lampshade
