Strangely, Stanley "Colonel" Kurtz has not yet said a word about this over at NRO--and the news is over a day old. Since Col. Kurtz usually posts within 15 minutes about any news affecting "traditional families", this seems exceedingly odd. I mean, Ms. Cheney is the most politcally prominent lesbian in America, whether she likes it or not (apparently she doesn't, given her public record of appeasement with the nuts supporting her father).

Are you being intentionally dense? The alternative is that you've got serious reading comprehension problems. Jeff P. did not scoff at the notion that fathers are good for kids. And you know it. No, it's everyone's business. Individual choices affect society as a whole, so society has the right to regulate individual choices. Lesbians and homos who have children teach their children that homosexuality is acceptable, deprive their children of the necessity of both a male and female parental figure, and, in many cases, sexually abuse their children. When the child is born it should be taken by the state, given to a nice Christian, heterosexual couple, and Ms. Cheney should receive a bible, a stoning and a hystorectomy, not necessarily in that order. It's that simple.

My point, to be clear, was that in the the top slots of conservative issues for the past five years have been nabbed terrorism, gay marriage, immigration, war protests, and the war on Christianity. Each of them was declared the single most important issue facing our culture today. Repeatedly.

The GOP had a pretty cohesive playbook for a while there, now they just sound like James Gregory in Manchurian Candidate.

I would also like to add that it is the aggregate effect of trolls across the internet that really slow down the whole of web traffic. Without them we could all download porn that much faster.

And this is the most critical issue facing our culture ever.

Peter K. is right. Plenty of poor societies frequently get in high dudgeon about real or alleged moral offenses, many much more trivial than Mary Cheney's pregnancy. In reality, the wealthiest societies tend to be the most tolerant and/or decadent (depending on your point of view).
