Inside the Party HQs
I've been shuttling back and forth between different parties' events in DC. Better way of putting that—I've been shuttling between Democratic parties and Republican mausoleums. The Democrats have flooded the Hyatt near Capitol Hill; the Republicans are hosting small numbers of journalists in the lobbies of their national headquarters. The Republicans are cautiously optimistic about holding George Allen's seat; they think that'll be the seat that keeps the Senate from going Democratic. The House, by consensus, is gone.
I meant to be around Republicans when Santorum went down, but I ended up in the Capitol Lounge, a bar chock full of Democrats, who (I think) hooted me deaf.
