Election Day Update: A Nation Waits to Get Out of Work
The state of play at 4 p.m. ET:
- Maryland Republicans bus homeless volunteers in from Pennsylvania to hand out pamphlets labelling Republican candidates as Democrats. Not the actions of a confident party, exactly.
- Rick Santorum has appeared on at least two national talk radio shows (Glenn Beck and Laura Ingraham) and all of the cable channels. In other words, he's got some free time on his hands.
- In lieu of exit poll results, here's a blog just calling races like they feel.
- Some early "winning ugly" gloating from blogger Billmon:
If, by some fluke, the Democrats were to recapture the White House, they would be well advised to go after the Rovian machine in roughly the same manner that the Russian government went after the old Communist Party after the failed '91 coup. Personally, if it were up to me, I would declare the GOP an illegal organization (as the CPUSSR was) and let honest Republicans go regroup under a new, hopefully non-criminalized brand name -- like, say, the Detox Party.
Brothers, sisters, come together!

Reason, do you know what the real question of today is, what's important to your readers? Will the RPG and Carpet Humping Guy be back tomorrow, or, are we free of their tyranny forever?
Mmmmm, fragmented major party, delicious. They could just divide up into all the third parties that are closest to their values: Conservative, Constitution, and Libertarian. That would be neat-o.
If, by some fluke, the Democrats were to recapture the White House,
That would be a fluke, seeing as this is a mid-term election.
I thought we all agreed that C----- H------ G-- would be referred to only as He Who Shall Not Be Named? Please don't risk summoning him, even in jest.
Well, I have seen He Who Shall Not Be Named on http://www.cnn.com.
i totally agree
Pathetic. Is that what they're reduced to?
"That would be a fluke, seeing as this is a mid-term election."
If you read the whole post, moron, instead of the excerpt posted here by your fellow moron, you might have some vague clue what I was talking about.
