The Missionary Position
The Indian state of Chhattisgarh has approved a law requiring those wishing to change religions to request permission from a district administrator 30 days in advance. The new law also approves a three-year prison sentence for those found to have forced others to convert. The state of Madhya Pradesh had earlier passed a similar law. Authorities say they just want to prevent forced conversion, but Christian missionaries say the new laws are part of a pattern of harassment of them.
