This Is What Emmy Voters Actually Believe
The 2005 episode of South Park that pitted the boys against Scientology and Tom Cruise has been nominated for an Emmy.
The episode called "Trapped in the Closet" implies that Cruise is gay and makes fun of Scientology.
Cruise's fellow Scientologist Isaac Hayes reportedly quit because he was upset with the episode. And when it came time to rerun it, Cruise allegedly called Comedy Central and demanded that it be pulled.
"Trapped in the Closet" is pitted against four forgettable episodes of declining series ("Family Guy"?) - it's unclear if the academy will pull a Jethro Tull or a Steely Dan.
One sure thing: You can meet Trey Parker and Matt Stone by attending Reason in Amsterdam, less than two months away.

Family Guy was nominated for "North by North Quahog?" Wow. What a weak episode to pick. How about "PTV" and Peter's battles with the FCC?
I was at the Metallica concert in Norfolk VA. right after the Emmy's. Needless to say they were more pissed than usually were. They stopped several time during the show from alleged slights from fans throwing shit that fans at all 9 concerts I have been to have always thrown. They implied that fans must fuck up that person who threw that shit our were not playing.
When Steely Dan won that long-overdue Grammy I just laughed and laughed. In your face, Bono!
AC, according to the above link, Family Guy was nominated for "PTV."
Camp Lazlo is truly one of the more wretched shows on Cartoon Network's schedule not named Ed, Edd, and Eddie. It can't touch the amusingly subversive Grim Adventues of Billy and Mandy.
Of course, it was a down year for Adult Swim, with no new Venture Bros. and only six episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends isn't bad for a show that offers nothing for my demographic. I can see why the kids love it.
Is The Simpsons still on the air?
I miss Cow and Chicken.
Farm on the Freeway, bitch.
As long as Adult Swim has Tom Goes to the Mayor I'm happy. Hopefully that show will get its due someday.
So let's see; Tom Cruise already tried to get Viacom to do his bidding by threatening not to promote MI:3. I sure as hell hope Trey and Matt win, because I figure the more exposure they (and especially "Trapped in the Closet") get, the more Cruise will just start boycotting all kinds of mainstream media before we just don't hear from him or his Thetans anymore.
I miss Cow and Chicken.
- What the HELL are those soldier?
- They're my udders.
I remember having to explain the whole R. Kelly "And then I pulled out my gun!" bit to about 5 different people.
"PTV" was memorable just for the FCC song and the various programming he aired. South Park definitely cause more ripples and at least three other episodes stemming from the controversy.
"Trapped in the Closet" wasn't the best South Park episode during this period, but it's nice to see it nominated after Comedy Central pulled it from the rerun schedule. (It's supposed to run again finally, maybe, in a couple weeks.)
Then again, "Bloody Mary" was an even better episode and would have been an even more embarrassing nomination for Comedy Central. It seems to be permanently off the air.
Declining? Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends is one of the only original Cartoon Network shows worth watching! And it's only a year or two old at this point.

That's a little surreal. I follow the link and somehow see "North by North Quahog." I pick an episode out of the air that I think is better, and it happens to be the one actually nominated. It's a good thing it's Friday.
"it's unclear if the academy will pull a Jethro Tull or a Steely Dan"
I followed the links, but I don't understand the reference or perhaps the implication. please explain.
I like Tull, but they certainly aren't heavy metal.

My brother had made me listen to a few installments of that song. I lost it when that first happened in the episode. 🙂
