Wasn't There a Foo Fighters Video About This? (Sky-High Drug-Smuggling Edition)

The men face 10 years to life in prison and a maximum fine of $4 million on the smuggling charge, and 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on a bribery charge.

$15,000? They got screwed.
Things like this are why my fairly conservative Republican father supports some form of drug legalization and is strongly opposed to using the military in drug interdiction efforts — prolonged prohibition inevitably breeds graft and corruption in the entities devoted to enforcing prohibition.
$15,000? 15 lbs of cocaine has a street value of about $650,000. These guys should go to jail for being so stupid and not demanding more money.
I’m shocked! Shocked I tell you!

Some things money can’t buy… Government agents ain’t one of them.
There is another blog item about Virginia Beach PD being sued because they made basic math skills a criteria for hiring.
Since the Air Marshalls haven’t been sued, here’s a thought – the dealers actually offered the Marshalls $150,000, but gave them 10% of that, because they knew they couldn’t count.
