What they're not telling you is that it's the intern who has to pick up the ad check from the carpet humper...
If I work from my Manhattan apt. will you pay my rent? 🙂
I've been dying for an internship at Reason. I tried applying last year, when there was no program. I'm all over it.
Taylor,
Your blog says about you: Although he believes in federalism and limited domestic government, he is a strong supporter of conservative internationalism and the preservation of the American standard of living.
What is your conception of "conservative internationalism" that you juxtapose it to "federalism and limited domestic government"? And in what way is "the preservation of the American standard of living" not entirely consistent with these latter two?
It seems like a nice deal to me and I'd love to apply.
Unfortunately I don't have any published writings, live in Kansas, and my major is undecided but most definitely not journalism.
I'm probably perfect for it besides the fact that I'm too damned lazy.
Now to something entirely different:
Fat ueber-asshat Rob Reiner is whining and bitching over there in the LA Times that people actually have the temerity to
a)not like his morally uplifting movies and
b) be critical of his preschool tax
Money quote: "We are living in a political climate. We've seen it in the last number of years. Look at what they did to [President] Clinton. It's the politics of human destruction. They want this to be a distraction because they don't have any other way to oppose it. At some point, I hope people will start talking about the real issue. If they want to knock me down, fine. I'll take the hits as long as I reach my goal."

Finally!
Will one of you help me with my resume?

Oh no! Not they! Look Rob, they're coming for you!
Yeah, get the reason pillow girl as an "intern"!
I'm probably perfect for it besides the fact that I'm too damned lazy.
Yeah me too. Plus, I'm too old.
I know college kids can be mighty resourceful, but 200 bucks a week? I feel embarrassed by association, even though I'm not affiliated with Reason, I just write stupid comments on their blog. That won't even cover the cost of wringing all the sweat out of their clothes. Is that what they're buying off college kids with these days? Is one of the requirements for internship that the kid be independently wealthy too?

independent worm,
Good point! $200 a week isn't much anywhere. And in Washington D.C. and L.A.? That might get you a sturdy cardboard box in a public park and some nice Saltine crackers. I think the answer is yes, it is presumed you are either independently wealthy or otherwise still sucking off of mommy and daddy's financial teat.
I'm sure my previous post saying the same thing will appear soon as well, but RTFL gentlemen: we supply housing PLUS the two grand--and there are many (I daresay most) internships in this biz that pay not at all.
