Response From One of the Loving County Three
Don Duncan, mentioned a few weeks ago in my commentary on Loving County, TX and the Free Town Project (or the Free County Project, as Duncan calls it), responds:
Tim:
Are you a libertarian? I assume not, because you refer to Larry Pendarvis as a "losertarian" in your communtary on "Free Towners Mess With Texas, Lose", Feb.25, 2006. We did not "mess with Texas" or "lose" and we are not "freetowners" but "freecountyers". I wrote out a long rebuttal about a week ago but it did not post. Why? I tried again today and found communtaries are no longer accepted. How can I correct the errors on hitandrun? Update: the Texas Ranger dropped the warrants after investigation. We need to attract libertarians to Loving county so we need to present our side of the story.
Please advise.
Toward a voluntary society, Don Duncan

My guess is, it was either a bad squirrel day, or you put more than one hyperlink in it.
Tim, why are you working for The Man?
Or do you just hate people who use creative spelling for the word "commentary?"
Presumably you've now got the man's email address; are you going to post his rebuttal?
Warren,
They (H&R) close the comments section after a while, probably as an anti-spam measure.
I, too, have been affected by this.
They do?
How do you know this for sure?
(Other than the fact that the server seems to freak out and die at roughly the same time every afternoon.)

Heh, mediageek. Meta-commentary.
Oops, that took a long time to post. Apparently the servers really are screwed at present.
mediageek,
How about follow the link posted above, to which the emailer claimed not to be able to post to, and try to post to it?
The time I encountered it, the page said quite clearly that comments have been closed, and not connection timed out.
*smacks forehead*
Right. I don't generally try to post to a thread after it's fallen off of the front page.
I thought you meant that the regularly scheduled afternoon server freakouts were deliberate.
All clear now.
Never mind the server; does this mean all that cool stuff about duelling and canniballism was a hoax?
DAMMIT
You know, since my family's from Texas, and my last name's Loving, I have to wonder if there's some connection. Fairly estranged from my family, though (I'm the California athiest black sheep of the family). I still can't get a straight answer on whether or not it was actually a relative of mine in the Loving v. Virginia case or not.
I still don't get why people don't take us libertarians seriously.

Just caught up with this story. My disillusionment from all political philosophies is complete. Not that I needed the nuts in this case to help but it is a great example of following a philosophy to its natural conclusion without any concern about real world consequences.
Can somebody create a "Makes Sense" party that isn't bound by some egghead philosophy that hogties the members with the theories that only work in the imaginations of its adherents?
By the way, based on the libertarian world view, why should cannibalism (of bodies not murdered of course) not be legal?
I AM a libertarian, and I certainly dont want to live anywhere near those people.
