Friday Fun Link

While admittedly morally and intellectually indefensible--and what better way to prepare for the weekend?--I confess I've been finding The Superficial, a collection of cruelly pointless and often very funny comments on the latest celebrity gossip, a hoot, occasionally rising to the rarified heights of a hoot and a half. At its best, a sort of DNA-splicing of the best of In Touch and the '80s indie-punk 'zine Conflict.

I would caution that some of what one will find on The Superficial is arguably Not Safe For Work. But I too count that site among my guilty interweb pleasures.

The creative force behind The Superficial was always Brendon Donnelly, but he is no longer with them. I know he was writting for:

I would say that both of these sites are supperior to The Superficial, but I still check out all three whenever I need to buck up on my celebrity news.

If you like The Superficial you should check out What Would Tyler Durden Do. They often cover the same stories, but WWTD is slightly more caustic. Plus, WWTDD has more nip slips and starlet pictorials.

Those sites, and Brendon Donnelly in particular, are pretty fun, but I sometimes wonder what they (or is it just Donnelly?) have against Gwyneth Paltrow and Kirsten Dunst, whom I think are quite attractive.

Paltrow looks like a phantom version of her former self. Plus, she seems to be suffering from the same ASA (anglophile speech affect) affliction as Madonna.

Kristen Dunst has pumpkin teeth, giraffe neck and flapjack chest. Other than that she's perfect.
