Even better would be allowing sugar producers here to set their own prices. But ADM will have none of that.

Look, we need to keep sugar expensive FOR THE CHILDREN, otherwise they might eat too much of it and get fat.

And we need to keep corn-based sweeteners subsidized and artificially cheap FOR THE CHILDREN, to help keep the grocery bills low for working parents.

There's something funny about a world where some people want to subsidize sugar to keep it cheap while other want to tax foods with sugar to make them more expensive....

So rather than let the market decide, lets take money from people who use sugar and give it to the people who make sugar via the government, rather than let them do it themselves.
