The reverse seems true as well. So while NYC went 80% Kerry, West Bumblefuck, Montana was passing citywide anti-pocket-lazer-pointer ordinance.

This is enough of a phenomenon to deserve a name.

On the other hand, the Ohio DUI license plates are sort of nice. Unfortunately you can't buy them. You have to be convicted of DUI to get one for your pickup truck with the gun rack. It's pretty stylish, from what I've seen.

Great Ohio contributions include: Jerry Springer (former mayor of Cincinnati), Carmen Electra, McKinley, The Guy Who Shot McKinley, the Mapplethorpe fiasco, and Dennis Kucinich.

OK, in all fairness, Ohio is the home of the Cleveland Orchestra, the best classical radio station I've heard yet, and a fantastic art museum. I don't live there now, but those would be the first things I'd miss on my way to NH. Of course, you wouldn't be too far from the BSO...

Under another section of the bill, information provided to law enforcement about vulnerabilities at chemical plants and others "critical infrastructure facilities" would be exempt from Ohio's Public Records Act.

Because we all know, making security an all-government affair is a good idea for our safety. Because it follows that we all know that government workers are the hardest, most honest workers we can think of. And because we all know, an ignorant populace is best. Does anyone here recall the Davis-Besse plant fiasco? As a member of the general public, even if it scares the bejezus out of me, I want to know if a nuclear power plant is about to blow. Guess I'll be in the dark from now on....

....speaking of the Cleveland Orchestra and Devo: I am going to see a movie at another one of Cleveland's fine institutions this weekend, The Cleveland Cinematheque, which is a music documentary about no-wave/new-wave/post-punk/etc. bands including segments about Pere Ubu and Devo.
Also, I am going to see the Cleveland Orchestra perform tomorrow...I am only mentioning these things since people brought up Pere Ubu, Devo, and the Cleveland Orchestra....
