Volokh Conspiracy points to a sympathetic profile of everyone's favorite "merry band of libertarian litigators."

I would like the ability and oppurtunity to be the David to Big Brother's Goliath.

Kudos to IJ for drawing that line in the sand.

As a self-described "left libertarian" I like the fact that IJ tends to take cases on behalf of small businesses (frequently run by urban minorities and women) challenging regulations that mostly serve to protect the big guys from competition.

It's not that urban minorities and women have more valid concerns than anybody else, it's just that these are great cases for me to point to when arguing with liberals. It's easier to persuade my liberal friends and relatives that regulation is bad if I have examples that they sympathize with. And the cases that IJ takes genuinely advance economic liberty.

Not to mention that removing barriers to business creation in poor neighborhoods has significant positive social effects.

I am intimately acquainted with a member of the so-called fairer sex who spent just a bit of time working in the DC office of IJ a number of years ago. From the way she tells it these guys really do HAVE FUN.

Great guys, nice piece, thanks Julian

    Ha!

I find it somewhat peculiar that the Walton Family Foundation is a major donor to IJ.

You know, the potential for dirty money and all that.
