Something Larry Summers Forgot to Say…
Women who drink a little wine, beer or even spirits every day are less likely than teetotallers to see their memories and other thinking powers fade as they age, according to a study on alcohol's impact on the brain.
Whole thing here.
When the drunken aliens take over, let it be clear that Reason has consistently touted the benefits of moderate drinking, for men and women.

Moderation is something I just can't get enough of.
I imagine that women who like to have a pop every once in a while also have more experiences that are worth remembering.
I think I'm allergic to alcohol. It makes me vomit and black out.
joe: Great one!!!!
Do you mean "pop" as in "soda", or as in "fuck"?
No, as in "Here, have a pop," said while passing a flask.
Yeah, I'd imagine women who drink can recall a lot of thngs. Take your gin-soaked mother, for example; she's probably able to tell you everything you ever did to make her life miserable.

Somewhere I read that while beer kills brain cells, those brain cells were weak and in the way already. So I'm simply thinning the herd so to speak!
Note that ...a little wine, beer or even spirits... is one to two glasses a day. And no, you don't get to save it up for the weekend.
Does it reverse the equation? Does a drinking woman have better math skills than a drinking man? Somebody go tell Summers before he hires his next faculty member!
I like moderation, especially applied to moderation itself.
I, for one, welcome our new Drunken Alien Overlords. I hear they throw killer parties.
Except for that percentage of the population that tends towards alcoholism, the evidence in favor of health benefits from using alcohol in moderation would seem to be overwhelming. We do have to learn that moderation thing, though.

Uncountable brain cells are dying as I tap here, but what are the facts?
Is alcohol really good for one, or are just the alcohol-retarded speaking?
Not that any answer would alter my habits.
I think of simple gauge of whether it's good for you or not is whether or not drinking it turns you into an alcoholic. If yes, don't drink. If not, what the hell.
They say you have a drinking problem if you walk into a bar and the bartender greets you by name ... and you've never been in that particular bar before.
... and you've never been in that particular bar before.
..so far as you can remember.
Blackouts are Nature's little circuit breakers, after all. 🙂
